How did you find CUF?

I've been reading over Cardiac's shoulder for years and years, and whining at him to shut off the damn computer and pay attention to me. If I can't get his attention by yelling at him, I figure I can always get on another computer and talk to him that way.

What do you like about CUF?

Your irreverence, and the way you're willing to get into it with each other. I've been on a board with 50 women for the last decade, and we're so afraid to step on each others' toes that we don't talk about hard things. Besides, they're all so dang conservative...

What don't I like about CUF?

That my husband would rather hang out with you all than with me. And I'm pretty hot, if I do say so myself...

How did you choose your moniker?

I'm a reader and a runner, so BooksIt plays on both of those passions. I've used it in various versions as an online handle for a long time. And the Ms is just to piss Cardiac off. He suggested that I go as MrsCardiacCougar, but I want to be recognized as an independent entity.

What do you do (other than read CUF)?

I'm a SAHM to four kids. Oldest is 9, youngest is 2. I'm a convert, a democrat, a feminist, and a die-hard BYU fan (although I don't really like sports, just BYU in general, even when they're being stupid, which is often). I blog at Segullah, at Feminist Mormon Housewives, and my own blog (all about running and books and our kids). I caught the marathon bug about two years ago. Right now I'm training for my 7th (I've run two in Texas, St. George, Top of Utah, Nashville and Boston). I'm hoping to break 3:10 one of these days. When I'm not taking care of the kids, I work as Segullah's Features Editor and I've taught English at the high school and college level, though I'm not teaching right now.

Welcome, MsBooks. It is always nice with the XX population on CUF grows. I read your review of Albom's latest, and I very much enjoyed it. Not enough to read a Mitch Albom book, though.

I joined the church with my parents (my dad had an MPA-- does that skew the statistics? my mom has a couple of years of college but no degree) and siblings when I was 14. I went on to get a BA and an MA.

Art Vandelay- I can speak no ill of Sooner. I've known him since before he went through puberty, and he drove me to the grocery store every week when Cardiac was on his mission and I had no car. I'm in his debt eternally because he saved me from shopping at the skating rink Ream's and Storehouse Market (the places that were within walking distance from my apartment).

Besides, to get him you really have to get their family. When I was a teenager, we'd come home from church and over Sunday dinner comment on how nice Brother So-and-so's talk was. When I went to Sooner and Cardiac's house for Sunday dinner for the first time, I was shocked by the conversation-- they analyzed all of the talks, talked about the weaknesses of the Sunday School lessons, and complained about the boneheaded bishop. They're just very analytical and critical (not necessarily in a bad way) by nature, so it's not surprising to me that the guys turned out the way they did.

Quick sidenote: If Sooner spared you from skating rink Reams, he's worthy of eternal rewards. Like a giant green turtle whose excreta is placed in bags or boxes for you as you exited, that Reams was easily the worst purveyor of groceries I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. Their meat department produced a roast less tender than a Goodyear radial. Dreadful.
