Like I've said before, I saw an interview with McNaughton one time, I firmly believe that he's in on the joke. He's just trying to cash in on LDS hunger for bad art. He probably got the idea from the Del Parson exhibit at the Orem Costco.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Utah artist Jon McNaughton told the site Buzzfeed this week that the asking price for original versions of the painting will be $300,000.
