  • goodbye andrew rich

Came to byu as a walk on while having scholarship offers from good programs like boise st and cal. He played hard, physical and fearless every time he laced them up during his three years at byu.

Thanks for the memories, andrew. One of my favorite cougars ever.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

That may be a little too kind (top ten safety or DB, perhaps), but yes, Rich has been a big time player for BYU and will be a HUGE loss.

Why didn't he have an offer to BYU? I don't know/remember that story.

He will be hard to replace.

The quintessential strong safety. Tough, hard hitting, great in run support, fast enough to cover the field, hard hitting and great nose for the ball. This is one position where we will take a hit next year. I hope J'Ray can blossom.

Rich was an absolute beast throughout his career to bad he lost his whole sophomore year to Kellen Fowler.

He finishes the 2010 season with 111 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 5 ints, 13 pass break ups, and 3 forced fumbles.

In terms of my top ten all time favorites - not necessarily the objective top ten best Cougs - it's actually about right.

And as far as safeties are concerned - I'd have to put him as top 3 - Morrell, Francisco and Rich would be the three all time greats IMO.

I was actually going to post the exact same thread. He's my all-time favorite defensive player at BYU (not saying the best...just that I like him the most).

Amen to that. He turned my son into a huge BYU fan which has been a lot of fun for dear old dad.

How fitting that Rich goes out in his final game with an INT.
                            Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
