  • How many of your team's football games have you missed for church or family?

I had to tape delay the 2007 byu v Utah game because my in-laws took us to some really expensive play. This was their one get out of Jail free card. I now write the game time of every game on calendars so this never happens again.

Its seems every effing year the damn trunk or treat at the ward is on a saturday night when Utah is playing Air Force. I have had to tape delay a couple of those games.

The 2001 opener against Utah St I missed because of my wedding reception. I was working in Boston and she was in Michigan and we got married in Utah. It was the only day that we could do it (without going further into the football season).

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

This is the first year I had season tickets and I missed the Washington game and SDSU game due baptisms. One was my daughter. I missed one other game due to a service project and then elected not to go to UNM because I wanted to watch the Army-ND game this past Saturday. Perhaps I should have gone to Provo!? But I was there against UNLV when Jake Heaps had his breakout game!

        I was there!

Just one. This year's UNLV game. My son, 7 years old, had a football game of his own at the same time. I chose the son over the Utes.

My teams' never played Sunday games and have been deemed to be incapable of serving in leadership positions, so I don't typically have conflicts with Church.

I've missed Saturday general conference sessions to watch the Utes. That's about it.

Missed a football game due to birth of a child but caught the second half on TV.

Missed a home game a few years ago due to a funeral in another city and the game not being televised.

My most shameful moment was going to a game at LES the day after the birth of a child when later that day he got sent to the NICU and things got real (hey oxcoug) dicey. (Hey I had my phone with me and I as a few minutes away from UVRMC and at the time wife and baby were resting and everything OK)

I think that's about it as far as missing football games.

I usually miss a game or two every year of BB due to various issues, usually a game of one of my kids or something wife needs me for. I wouldn't miss a game for a church calling.

I was invited to play in a softball tournament in Mesquite this weekend all expenses paid. Including a few rounds of golf. We had our primary program on Sunday and I had a pretty decent sized part as did my class, the practice was Saturday morning. I declined the softball invite because of this but in reality it was because I did not want to break my streak of attending every BYU home game since 1996.

I take back my answer. It should be never. I have missed going to a game because of a family event (Oklahoma) But I still watched live.

I'm with you Jay. I went to the fiesta bowl 2000 miles away from home 2 weeks after the birth of my first kid. With Basketball because not all games are televised I just listen to on my computer.

Do you exclude your mission service? Oh BOOM-ROASTED! The rest of us would have a two year gap, even the Utes amongst us!

I am grateful to report that starting with UNLV I got my groove back on. Until TCU last year I had been to 10 games at LES and BYU had won every one of them. Then came TCU....then Nevada but now much like Steven Tyler "I'm baaaaack in the saddle again!"

One. My BIL got married a few years back when BYU was hosting New Mexico. I missed my nephew's baptism for the Notre Dame game. Who schedules a 7:00 PM baptism on a Saturday night when ND is in town? My sister still hasn't forgiven me.

I answered too soon. I'm ok with occasionally DVRing a BYU game. However, I'll never miss watching a Holy War live.

Wedding was planned on a bye week.

I think the only reason that we will miss a game live is if we have children playing a sport on Saturday. And IMO, that is about the only good excuse. Playing is pretty much always better than watching.
