  • Both Heaps and Nelson will start

They will both line up in shotgun behind center, and then depending on the play the center will snap it to one or the other. It will completely throw defenses for a loop.

The more I think of it, the more I think it will happen.

Excellent. Nelson's transition to RB is almost complete.

Hmmm, I see your point. BYU might further confuse the defense by mixing in a little of the "forward pass."
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Exactly. In fact I originally thought to myself that this formation is so crazy, that it just might work.

Split veers. Leather helmets. (As a side note, Jimmer has been practicing his knee-to-the-chest set shot and will unveil it in the New York game).

We did this out of a single wing formation (aka. the wildcat) when I was coaching Ted Jr's pop warner team. We destroyed all the 3rd and 4th grade teams.

If we could put Luke Staley in there as the third QB all in shotgun behind center, I'd be all for it.

Did I hear that Chow had installed the "pistol" formation at UCLA? That seems like a complete overhaul of their system if true.

I also heard it didn't work all that well in their spring game.

Anyone here have access to ESPN Insider? Their twitter account says Riley may have the edge on Jake as starting QB and gives the link to further the story.

I wonder what their take on it is. Probably nothing more than what I already know. The Washington game is 13 days away. I wonder when Bronco names the starter for the game. I bet both get a fair amount of playing time. I think I would prefer a starter being named and seeing how they play out. as opposed to both playing as co-qbs.

They said that Bronco may have made a decision because they took the green jersey off Nelson and let him get hit.

If Bronco's like most other coaches, he probably hasn't given much thought to his opening opponent just yet. So as long as you're not prepping for a specific opponent, no need to worry about a starter. But if by this time next week, Bronco hasn't announced a starter, it's almost a certainty he'll play both QBs, but won't bother on naming a starter to keep Washington guessing.
