  • Does Florida make a run at Whittingham?

He has done everything Urban did at Utah, he hasn't coached elsewhere but I have to wonder if Florida would want to get a fruit of the same tree.

Whit has stated he wants to be at Utah. So, maybe.

Why not? KW is a hell of a coach and I think he'd do well in just about any coaching situation I could think of. I think it'd be awesome if he was even mentioned.

Unlike Meyer, Whittingham means it when he says he wants to be somewhere. He's not leaving for Florida.

Lou Holtz just mentioned KW as a candidate. But then he said that KW's offense was the same as Meyer's.

He is smoking something. Number one, KW is a defensive guy, not an offensive guy, and while he may have input stylistically, I don't see him actually bringing an offense over independent of a coordinator.

Number two, the spread Florida runs is not the same as the one Utah runs. The one Florida runs is essentially the triple option (in my view).

Florida would be wise to consider Whittingham, and Whittingham would be wise to consider Florida. That said, I don't think Florida will offer Whittingham, and I don't think Whittingham would accept.

The problem with principled people is that you can't get them with money. He's right where he wants to be and he's earning plenty.

That is the key ... not just the principled part. While there are ceratinly people in this word who are motiviated 100% by stuff other than money, they are a very small minority IMO. The question becomes what is the "motivational ceiling". For most people, is there really a big difference between a 7 or 8 figure annual salary? Probably not. OTOH, if you were KW making a healthy six figures but nowhere near 7 ... the 7 would be tempting ...

I'm not a Whit will never leave guy, but he just doesn't seem like a Florida type. FWIW

Honestly I think Petersen at Boise would be a more likely candidate than Whit.

Just realized that my post didn't sound right. KW is in the 7 so who cares about 8 camp, no? If not 7 figures, very close?

What I'm sayis the difference between 500K and 1M is IMO a lot bigger difference (lifestyle wise) than 1M and 2M, 3M, etc.

KW, is that you? None of us here (unless KW is a CUF member) know if he would leave for Florida. If Florida offered him I think he'd take it, but I don't know. There are plenty of reasons to stay at Utah, but also plenty of reasons to be at Florida. I agree with Crimson that Peterson maybe makes more sense.
