    BYU - Florida State thread

Yes, it is early to start a thread for a Saturday game, but today is Wednesday.....halfway through the week, so I am starting it anyway.

For those that are up in Provo, what is the vibe? Is there an energy on campus yet for this weekend? Are you finding yourself driving by or near the stadium "just because?" Do you have friends or family coming into town for the game? Any plans for Friday night?

I have to think that locally, there is much excitement to see the Florida State Seminoles run out onto that field, with Bobby Bowden being carted out on some sort of stretcher or golf cart. I predict that the stadium will be loud and the fans will be fired up.

Is anyone else already pumped up for this? I am excited!

Are you coming up? Or is a 3rd weekend of travel too much?

I'm pumped. This will be the last thing I do in Utah before heading off for Chicago.

          Talk about the perfect scenario:

Coming off a blowout win and a win over a top 5 team, you have your first home game against one of the most recognizable names in all of college football. Add to that the fact that another blowout win is not out of the question.

I am sad I won't be there. Right now the scheduling looks like a work of genius.

This work week is dragging. I can't speak to the vibe around Provo, but in talking with my friends locally there seems to be a little extra buzz surrounding this game. Obviously a lot of that has to do with the fact we haven't had any big games in Provo since the '07 Utah game. The UCLA game last year was the only big name opponent on the home schedule, and much of the excitement had been lost having seen UCLA for the 3rd time in two years. The fact this is the first home game of the season against a big name opponent, coupled with the huge Oklahoma win definitely has created a big game atmosphere.

I'll be there early tailgating...cracking open caffeinated beverages early and often. I'm already feeling wild and crazy.

We Skyped our BYU Coed this morning. I could sense very little excitement over, or even understanding of the magnitude of this event. When I asked her earlier this week about the game (I'm freaking out about it) she responded with, "Who are we playing? Oh, Florida, right?" FLORIDA?!?!?!?

This, after all these years of BYU uberfandom. So much like her mother.

We got her the sports pass and she's taking some UofU student BYU fan. I guess he couldn't get into BYU.
              Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I was going to use a hammer to calibrate mine, but I didn't want to be branded a communist.

                          I love the belt comment:

Weather looks like it will be nice, but you'll probably want to bring a light jacket, as it cools down quite a bit this time of year in Provo. You shouldn't need anything heavier...jut plan on a t-shirt, jeans, and a braided belt.
                          That was a genius post!

I am getting a serious itch, so either Senioritis accidentally gave me Nate Cooper's gonorrhea, or game time is officially nigh.

Work with me, people. You are the eyes and ears for those that are not in town. What is going on in Provo? Are you seeing any car flags? Are co-workers wearing their BYU gear to work? Is anyone going to the fireside tonight (I am so desperate that I am willing to entertain fireside reports)?

For those that are rolling into town, what are you doing tonight? Have you visited campus? Where are you eating for dinner?

                            I want answers!

Ok, I will appease. Excitement is high for sure. I picked up my car from the shop yesterday and the guys there were all talking about it. They were playing a old taped BYU game on their big screen tv in the waiting room. One guy did walk in and ask if it was Florida that we were playing on Saturday, but they set him straight. I'm wearing my BYU gear today. I have seen flags out, and the student body is abuzz. There is a lot of interest in tickets, and several request for tickets have popped up on my Facebook newsfeed. There is an energy surrounding the whole thing that seems to be unspoken.
