  • Max called his own plays on final drive!

Granted the quote is coming from the Tribune, so take it for what it is worth. But if true this shows a lot of trust by Bronco/Anae and more importantly a great feel for the game by Max. http://www.sltrib.com/collegesports/...656?source=rss

"Hall was shaky at times with a couple interceptions, but expertly directed the game-winning drive -- coaches let him call his own plays on the 16-play, 78-yard march that consumed 8:38 off the clock -- and calmly found Jacobson on what Mendenhall called "almost a broken play."

Wow....that's amazing. I know that's not done much, but maybe coaches should let this happen more often. It seems like there may be some sort of edge when as a QB, you're running a play that was your call, and not something that was sent in.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Which means he called the draw on third and the quick play to Pitta on fourth. That, to me, was the game right there. Grit and determination to leverage genuinely good talent over a top-notch opponent.

How does a draw on third down help you on fourth?

Because the offense lined up quickly to run the play on 4th. I'm guessing he called the two plays on 3rd down.
