Then again I subscribe to the notion that he has lost his passion for the game and while I expect him to be better than last year, I believe the right sexy ocean of motion that he was in '06 is lost and gone forever.......

This is my take...

The only loss is Nixon. However, Nixon and the entire advantages on the edge were neutralized by poor performance from RT, ILBs and the safeties in both ability and scheme. If the play of the 3 up the gut players (RT and ILBs) is better I think BYU is improved from last year even with the loss of Nixon. I think the improved defensive backfield, at both corner and safety, could make the defense as above average. If Bradley is as good as some say and Aguirre is good, BYU's defense could end up good. I really think that if the defensive backs can cover one on one, there is a lot more BYU's defense can do.

But they still lose to Oklahoma.

This will benefit BYU in Sister Hill's passive drop everyone and there dog scheme he runs.

Bradley has been covering some NFL receivers all summer and from what I have been told looks incredible. They have 2 guys in Eason and Aguirre who have to be better than Howard. I feel sorry for some of Howards struggles but I won't miss the guy this fall.

Rich is the real deal. He will impress a lot of people this year.

With Vic moving to D End, I think there will be an upgrade to the 3rd D End that rotates with Denny and Jorgensen.

It seems to me the BYU coaches have just decided Pendleton is just to physically capable to leave on the bench. They are going to throw him to the wolves and hope and pray the mental side can catch the physical ability. My prediction is that there was a reason he didn't play much last year despite the poor play of the BYU safeties. He will show amazing ability one play to make something happen then on the next the opponent will take advantage of him being totally out of position. My hope is by the middle of October there are more and more of him doing the amazing and less and less of the opponents finding him in the wrong place. We shall see if the game experience helps him to develop. Time will tell.

Here is another one for you, A healthy Hooks is head and shoulders better than Doman at middle backer. So there is another improvement. Ah You leaving might also be a blessing in disguise. They were planning on red shirting Atkinson but I don't think they will now. He had a great spring and I don't think they will be able to let him sit this year. He IMO is better than Doman and could easily give Bauman a run for his money in the middle.

He really is. I think a lot of the mental mistakes he made was becuase of his position coach. With a new position comes a new position coach. One that IMO will understand how to better coach and handle Pendleton.

I'd feel a little better if he had Fui's "crazy eyes," or Brady's "WWF" mentality, or even the General's leadership. I wonder who is going to be that guy for the defense... the one you don't want to piss off cause you know there will be insane retribution. We didn't really have that guy last year.
