I don't. There is plenty of down time on missions when kids aren't doing stuff. There is no harm in securing what you are going to be doing post mission.

If Utah does this, oh well. BYU? Same.

If 100 institutions do it, their fans will be okay with it. If BYU does it one time, a specific fan base or two will try to burn the BYU coaches to the ground. So who cares.

    It is a business.

My general rule of thumb is: If it pisses off that specific fan base, I'm usually in favor of BYU doing more of it; whatever that "it" might be.

Harbaugh is a huge dick so this only gives me more reason to hate him.

Oh. It's a business? Never mind then.

Missions are not what they once were. I am torn on this since I really don't like the idea of coaches visiting kids on missions, but I also understand these kids needing to plan their future.

We were able to take time while my son was on his mission to zoom and schedule his classes for him. I would be ok if coaches talked (phone, email) to my daughter while she is on her mission, but the coach going out there is a bit far.

Next up: official campus visits - go ahead and bring your companion. So much down time on missions!

I don't know what crawled up and got you going today...but those are completely different things.

Missions today are different. I don't see why this stuff can't change as well. I had 2 phone calls a year and had to tract like 60 hours a week.

If a player had a 1 hour Zoom meeting with a coach, instead of a 1 hour in person meeting, would that be any different? This way if he commits now, they can send him a playbook and he can look at it and study it on p-day. I have zero issue with that. I wish it was a BYU playbook he was looking at though.

I’m fine with Harbaugh meeting with a missionary as long as he keeps his commitments to read and pray about the Book of Mormon.

Yeah, I think an in-person visit by a coach crosses the line. From the reaction on social media, most people agree with me.

Sorry, your "It's a business" response deserved some blowback. Come on.

My comment about college football being a business? That deserved some blowback?

Well, my daughter is serving only 15 minutes away from the campus of a potential transfer location...

Of course it is a business. What does that have to do with whether it is appropriate/overly disruptive or not?

The missionaries down here literally contact and teach in A&Ms campus. In fact, I think pretty much everyone of them ends up in college station at some point.

So he's on a mission and Bronco steps down. That starts the disruption. Right? So within 5-6 days of that happening he gets a visit from Harbaugh and commits to Michigan. Now he doesn't have to worry about where he is going and can focus back on the work. I see that as a better alternative than not knowing what he is doing for the next 4-5 months.

He already had a prior relationship with Michigan, as they were in his Top 5. This isn't a coach swooping in that has never had contact with him before.

I can see a situation where a visit from multiple coaches would be too distracting. My key objections are tied directly to the fact that I don't want schools not named BYU recruiting from our talent pool.

But all in all, if I'm an MP, and the missionary is okay with it, I think it's not inappropriate to allow him to line up his post-mission plans.
