    I need encouragement

We have DISH right now and have had it for years. I am trying to get past the interia of having a system I know - and to switch to DirectTV so I can watch the mtn. I do have season tickets to the Utah games but only made it to Salt Lake for 2 games last years (UNLV and BYU). Family and friends got to use the tickets for the other games. So I sat here in L.A. all season, listening to the Utes' greatest year ever on the Internet (I did see OSU and TCU). This seems wrong to me. Shouldn't I just switch? How hard is it to do? We have two "box" receivers and four monitors in our house.

Switch. You'll have to memorize some new channel numbers and the DTV DVR isn't as good as the Dish DVR, but it's worth it for the mtn. That said, as soon as Dish picks up the mtn, we are switching back.

The entire reason you have satellite TV is for the programming right? When my parents switched, no one was happy with DTV's service or technology. LiveCoug is right, Dish's DVR is way better than DTV's, but what's the point if Dish doesn't have what you want to watch? Make the switch, enjoy watching your team, and switch back to Dish as soon as they get the mtn.
      Not that, sickos.

It's not very inconvenient to switch, just expensive if you have to pay to get out of your Dish contract like I did. But it was definitely worth it.

Sounds like he wouldn't have that problem as he has had Dish for years. At the very least, he should threaten to leave and see if Dish will hook him up with free stuff.

If DTV didn't have the mtn, there would be absolutely no reason for me to have it. I hate it. It's product is inferior to Dish. I'm seriously considering about going back to Dish when this DTV contract is over, mtn. or not.

The other alternative is to go to more games. That is the better option.

2 games is inexcusable for someone in your position. It is almost as bad as SeattleUte not going to the Sugar Bowl because he didn't want to fly there alone.

LOL. There is no excuse for Seattle Ute.

Don't do it. The Utes are going to be horrible this year and you'll be in a foul mood all season because, in addition to watching Kyle's boys plays some pathetic football, you won't know how to work your TV.

You get to see all the amateurish shenanigans on the mtn if you switch.

I switched to DirecTV in summer of 2004 for the simple reason of getting CSTV because the BYU/Stanford game was going to be on CSTV and neither Dish or Comcast were going to have that station.

I have not had one moment of regret since getting DTV. It has the most HD channels, it has every sports channel, it has the NFL Sunday ticket, it has the March madness pack. I never had Dish in the era of DVR, the DTV DVR is inferior to the ReplayTV system I had back when, but it does everything I want it to, record two shows at once, expandable memory capable. I love DTV.

I love ReplayTV. I still have 2 working machines, although no one ever knows what the heck I am talking about. I have to call it Tivo just so they have a point of reference.
