I hear Scalley is a really great guy. Would be nice to see him succeed somewhere. Preferably not Utah!

To be fair though, I have adjusted my expectations for the program significantly. Since that time, I've been pretty happy with the team and the journey. Much more fun that way.

I am firm believer in maintaining low expectations. It results a lower-stress lifestyle.

That's not a bad ceiling. The 90s Utes were so fun! They occasionally were ranked in the top ten (!!!!), only to lose their spot due to an inexplicable loss to New Mexico or Air Force. And my all-time, never to be beat, in-person sports moment happened under MAFU: Yergensen. Plus, the cast of characters he convinced to come to Utah (a school with zero recent success) is pretty astounding: Jamal Anderson, Steve Smith, Eric Weddle, Alex Smith, Chris Mafala, to name but a few.

You guys talk like the comparison to McBride is an insult to Sitake. Frankly, I don't think Sitake has done much to merit the comparison to the great MAFU, other than lose to teams he has no right to lose to.

(That being said, I think BYU was smart to lock down Sitake for a couple more years. He's the best available.)

    1) The players and recruits seem to genuinely love him. That is significant and a good sign.

    2) Yes, he loses some games we should win, but he has shown that he can win big games. Road game at Tennessee. USC. Boise State. Utah State. Those were all impressive wins. Ditto for Wisconsin last year.

    3) Given our limited candidate pool, it would be stupid to ditch him under the current circumstances. He has very much earned an extension. Now lets see what he does.
Even thought the recruiting classes haven't been ranked, he still has upgraded talent and depth. The class rankings don't take into account transfers or typically even post mission transfers. So Austin Lee, James Empey, Khyris Tonga, Ty'Son Williams, Tristen Hoge, Joe Tukuafu, Dylan Collie, Mo Unatoa etc don't count. Given the shackles the administration gives him in terms of recruiting budget and draconian admissions rules, he done decent.
