Why does KS deserve to be fired?Originally posted by Maximus View PostWhy is it nutually exclusive? Both deserve to be canned.
The institutional impediments are insane.
Don’t athletes have to have a 25 ACT and 3.0 gpa to get in? And he gets 3-5 exceptions per year? They also can’t drink and bang girlfriends.
Stanford is a 26 ACT. Stanford’s coaching staff says they have a pool of 40 kids per year that are recruitable. That means BYU has maybe 20 legitimate recruit targets a year.
You can’t schedule a P5 schedule when more than half your kids aren’t P5 players.
Name one player on BYU that starts at Utah? Bushman?Last edited by fusnik; 11-26-2018, 12:38 PM.

I disagree that it's time to fire Kalani. The pool of LDS coaches is just too shallow. If Sitake falls on his face in 2019, then I can get behind showing him the door. Perhaps they go try to pull one of Bronco's guys away from UVA (my personal pick would be Poppinga, but that's just based on the fact that he strikes me as a hard working dude who understands the pros and cons of BYU...I have no idea if he would be a good HC).
In addition, I think this squad needs some continuity. We started a lot of young players this year. In two years, this could be a really special team. But I do think Grimes either needs to go or needs to turn over play calling duties to an assistant.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

They probably split the first 4 and will lose one to either USU, BSU or Stanford.

Hey stranger.Originally posted by fusnik View PostLol fire KS?
Some people are so dumb.
What’s the best BYU team of the past 20 years? Hall’s senior year? Becks senior year? Domains senior year?
You replace any of those teams with this years team and they go what? 9-3 maybe?
The person to go is Holmoe.
Independence is awful, he navigated P5 inclusion insanely bad, his scheduling while it looks cool is absolutely idiotic.
If the team starts 0-6 next year would you really be that surprised?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

At home against Utah. Travel to Tennesse. At home against USC and UW. Travel to Ohio. Travel to Florida.
Good lord the person who thought that was a good idea. But congrats BYU fan because instead of winning a MW championship and having regional rivals with history, you get to see your team get their asses kicked for 6 weeks and limp into the last half of a schedule where you might lose 1-2 games against those same MW teams you are so loathe to avoid.

When Bronco was around it was a 3.0-3.3 and 19 ACT and he could have preferred walk ons.Originally posted by Applejack View PostLink?
Now preferred walk-ons have to be admitted like a normal student at BYU which means higher than a 3.0 and higher than a 25 ACT.
I think it’s what Hans is talking about how a few people are ruining BYU football.

I am not sure both deserve to be canned but I agree that it is possible that BYU has set up its football HC for a meatgrinder experience and it is still possible that the HC is not real good at his job. Kalani in year 3 as a HC went 2-3 against BCS teams, I think that is pretty good for BYU, and 4-3 against non-BCS teams, which I don't think is real good. Granted he played two really good non BCS teams but the HC at BYU that goes 4-3 against the non-BCS programs on the schedule is not doing well, IMO.Originally posted by Maximus View PostWhy is it mutually exclusive? I think Mendenhall would have gone 8-4 this year. He would have won two out of BSU, USU and NIU.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

because he has proven so far to not know what he has doing, had the worst season in 40 years. somehow bronco managed not to do soOriginally posted by fusnik View PostWhy does KS deserve to be fired?

Bronco played in the MW for the first 6 years. His last 5 were in independence.Originally posted by Maximus View Postbecause he has proven so far to not know what he has doing, had the worst season in 40 years. somehow bronco managed not to do so
2011 - 10-3 / 1-3 vs P5
2012 - 8-5 / 3-2 vs P5
2013 - 8-5 / 1-5 vs P5
2014 - 8-5 / 3-0 vs P5 but losses to USU, UCF, UNR and BSU
2015 - 9-4 / 1-4 vs P5
He’s been mediocre to put it kindly at UVA.
He bailed because he knew he couldn’t compete against the upcoming schedules. They only get worse from here on out.
He wins at a 40% clip against P5.
That means this year he goes 2-3 against the schedule.
You might think he wins all 3 against BSU, USU, NIU but i doubt it. Benefit of the doubt he goes 1-2 against those teams this year and BYU finishes 7-5.

Are these rules for preferred walk-ons (in which case, who cares?) or do they apply to the scholarship athletes (which would be a big deal and news to me)?Originally posted by fusnik View PostWhen Bronco was around it was a 3.0-3.3 and 19 ACT and he could have preferred walk ons.
