it's been mentioned a lot on CB. deserves credit for it. though i thought Grimes said most of them were not reads, while some were.

I'd be interested to know more. I know Squally mentioned hoping Tanner would not give it to the fly man on a play, which says to me on that play that Tanner had the choice of who got the ball. And even if a play doesn't involve options of who gets the ball within the play, I'd think he has at least some ability to change a play pre-snap. Whether the coaches give him a little leeway or a lot to make those calls, who knows, but there is plainly more for the quarterback to do than just throwing the ball.

besides that, i know that across college football, qbs are often given the discretion of who to hand the ball to on the jet sweeps. it really does seem to be a play that is meant to be read by the QB.
