Yes you are right. All parades are dumb, with one exception, a Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup parade.

Planning to attend, but don't have much faith in a victory.

            Rise and shout!

              • Talked to a former coach on staff and he said Kalani admitted he screwed up when it came to recruiting skill guys. I went back to Kalanis first 3 classes at BYU.

                2016
                Aleva Hifo
                Jonah Trinnaman
                Sione Finau
                Hank Tuipulotu

That is it in his first class.

                Hifo has been solid.
                Trinnaman was a bust
Finau has one career touch, a fumble last week against Boise
                Hank is redshirting

                2017
                Jackson McChesney- scat back, Mission
                Bentley Hanshaw- TE, Mission

                Isaac Rex- TE, Mission

                Donvoan Hanna- TE, Mission

                2018
Gunnar Romney- WR, looks to be a solid player
Dallin Holker- TE, Looks to be solid
                Brayden Cosper- RS

Dax Milne and Tyler Allgier both walked on.

Those are the only skill guys he has recruited, so if you were ranking them:

                1. Hifo
                2. Romney
                3. Holker

Not a good look for Kalani.

                2019
Chase Roberts- 2nd best WR in the state behind Puka (Sorry SMR)
                Ethan Erickson- another TE
                Carter Wheat- see above
                Keanu Hill- WR

So we are loading up on tight ends, but not a lot of speed.

also, you could argue TE isn't really a skill position. i mean, it is, but barely.

                        I agree.

So if we take out the Tight ends:

                        WR: Hifo, Trinnaman, Romney, Cosper
                        RB: Finau

That's it during Kalanis tenure so far. Maybe Kalani deserves some credit for flipping Ula and Katoa I guess.

The talent pool for LDS kids and in the state of Utah has never been better.

For a guy who prides himself on recruiting, this is a real problem with Kalani.

To show both sides, these are the kids with P5 offers he did land:

                            2016

Sione Finau- 3 star (Offers: Oregon State)

Jackson Kaufusi- 3 star (Utah Cal, Washington State)

                            2017
                            D'Angelo Gunter-Mandell- 3 star (Vandy)
Bentley Hanshaw- 3 star (Oregon State)

                            2018
Gunnar Romney- 3 star (Arizona, ASU)
Oliver Nasilai- 3 star (Ok State)
                            Zach Wilson- 3 star (CAL)

As you can see it gets worse and worse.

                            2019 (assuming they stay committed)

                                Elijah Unutoa- 3 star (Cal)
