Modern history meaning 1970, around the time LaVell Edwards invented the forward pass.

It depends how you define it, because many define modern era as post-WWII or post-1950. That's due to FDR bringing modern government, and the advent of modern medicine becoming widespread, vaccines and technology spreading. Perhaps you disagree with that definition. But yes, BYU is a young university.

And yes it's Wilkinson, not Wilkerson.

Your snarky comment is much appreciated.

He was a mini-Ernie Wilkerson and treated many a professor like shit, handing down edicts like a demonic king, acting against academic freedom and ruling like an autocratic tyrant. Other than that he was wonderful. Also he started or re-started the reign of GAs as President.

Bateman is a curse word among those who know him.

No problem...an artist is strengthened by criticism. Besides I know you were referencing Topper.

Actually, I was referring to Topper's fantasy one-liners. I don't think you'll deny me a little Topper abuse.

I'm not buying all the bad stuff about Bateman but he was definitely a mediocre pres and bad for BYU athletics. He also introduced tan into the BYU color scheme which is an abomination that took a decade to completely expunge. Also, they say never follow a legend and Rex Lee was the rill dill.
