Is it too early to talk about Mississipi State?

Looks like the opening lines are 22.5 to 23 points in favor of MSU, and ESPN is projecting that we have a 5% probability of winning the game. I'm not sure that there's a lot to talk about other than we would have to come out and play a lot better offensively, defensively (and probably get some help with black magic voodoo) to have a shot at winning this game.

BYU is 0-7 against the spread this year, so +23 on the betting lines probably means we can expect a 30 or 40 point blowout loss Saturday morning. Assuming the game won't be competitive from a scoreboard perspective, what are some small things you are going to look for as signs of improvement?

Will this week finally be the week where we break the 200 yard mark for passing yards?

BYU needs to open up the play book and throw ever trick play they have. The bulldogs are big and fast in the front seven and really aggressive. GA and Auburn took advantage of that aggressiveness and hit them with some really big plays with play actions and flea flickers. Georgia scored on the first play of the game. I would like to dab more into it but I am a state fan and don't want to come on your board and sound like I am talking smack. I always worry about playing BYU. I guess it's because of the last game played in Starkville. You guys were whipping us until Staley got hurt and State came back. That guy could play. One other thing many State fans feel the refs cost State the game. Some really bad calls and non calls. They still go on about it. I am guessing those were Mountain West refs.

BYU is ranked 110 in the Massey Consensus (which is an average of 100 different ranking systems). Miss St is 28. Over the past decade no Very Bad team (ranked 106-115) has been a Good team (ranked 16-30) on the road. Over all games the Good team has won by an average score of 41.9-14.

I'm curious to see what they do at QB, do you play a hurt Mangum, a bad Detmer, an inexperienced Critchlow or just let Kafentzis run out of the wildcat all day. I think Tolutau was underutilized during the BSU game but I'm not sure how many times you can run him a game. It looks to be a long day.

Mangum is listed as the starter.

The backup will be Joe Critchlow, unless Hoge is healthy enough to play.

Koy will never get another snap in a byu uniform.
