Cheer up, amigos. If you think about the length of this losing streak in geologic time, it is the blink of an eye.

One of the frustrating/crazy things about this streak is that when we are good, they are just a little better. When they are bad, we happen to be just a little worse. With a decent offense, I think we win that game last night by 10-14 pts. Our defense was solid, especially considering that they got zero help from the offense in terms of momentum, field position, turnovers. And last year Utah turns it over six times and we lose by one point. Lots of blown chances.

It's not that they're getting better; they're just a step or two ahead of us, but they're consistently staying a step or two ahead of us. The gap isn't that big; it's just persistent.

Going back 15 years, what's the average difference on where we finish in computer rankings. I'd guess it's about 15 spots. 25ish to 40ish. Maybe more. The difference seems significant but I'm basing this on gut feeling not data.

Going back 15 years, what's the average difference on where we finish in computer rankings. I'd guess it's about 15 spots. 25ish to 40ish. Maybe more. The difference seems significant but I'm basing this on gut feeling not data.

I'd like to know that, though I'm too lazy to look it up. I'd bet it's not that far. Haven't we been pretty close, even in the last few years? I thought somebody said we were even above them once or twice during this streak (cold comfort).

I looked at that after last season. Here are the Massey composite rankings. You're right it's very cold comfort.
