One of the frustrating/crazy things about this streak is that when we are good, they are just a little better. When they are bad, we happen to be just a little worse. With a decent offense, I think we win that game last night by 10-14 pts. Our defense was solid, especially considering that they got zero help from the offense in terms of momentum, field position, turnovers. And last year Utah turns it over six times and we lose by one point. Lots of blown chances."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

See, people talk about Utah breaking away from BYU, talent gap, P5, etc., but I think they're overstating things. Utah's winning each of these games by a touchdown or less. It's not that they're getting better; they're just a step or two ahead of us, but they're consistently staying a step or two ahead of us. The gap isn't that big; it's just persistent.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOne of the frustrating/crazy things about this streak is that when we are good, they are just a little better. This persistent gap is more than mildly irritating. For football to be fun, you need some entertaining play and to defeat your rival regularly or at least now then and not, and not on geologic time.Originally posted by All-American View PostSee, people talk about Utah breaking away from BYU, talent gap, P5, etc., but I think they're overstating things. Going back 15 years, what's the average difference on where we finish in computer rankings. I'd guess it's about 15 spots. 25ish to 40ish. Maybe more. The difference seems significant but I'm basing this on gut feeling not data.Originally posted by All-American View PostSee, people talk about Utah breaking away from BYU, talent gap, P5, etc., but I think they're overstating things. Paint or in some other harmless form?Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostSlept on it and feel fine. We are what we are. It sucks that Utah has everything we want, but it is what it is.
Now to find out who put go utes on my front door.
Why did Ula not feature more in the run offense? It seems as if he offers something the others do not."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

I'd like to know that, though I'm too lazy to look it up. I'd bet it's not that far. Haven't we been pretty close, even in the last few years? I thought somebody said we were even above them once or twice during this streak (cold comfort).Originally posted by jay santos View PostGoing back 15 years, what's the average difference on where we finish in computer rankings. I looked at that after last season. Here are the Massey composite rankings. You're right it's very cold comfort.Originally posted by All-American View PostI'd like to know that, though I'm too lazy to look it up. I'd bet it's not that far.
