Mangum is not good. This offense is terrible.

Time to get Clark much more involved in creating an offensive identity. I am sure Detmer can read a defense as well as anyone, but he seems to be struggling with developing an offensive strategy. What scares me is that the guy appearing to be waiting in the wings is A-Rod.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

Well... that hurt...Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

I was one of those people and I was wrong. I'm sorry Taysom.Originally posted by All-American View PostA lot of people owe Taysom an apology. I won't say we'd be in this game with him but I think we at least score.

Well I don't think we have to worry about him turning pro after this season. Probably should worry more about Hogge transferring.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI was one of those people and I was wrong. I'm sorry Taysom.

Time for Detmer to call in some favors. Since he did so much coaching while playing, time to ask Steve Mariucci, Mike Holmgren and Jon Gruden to return the favor.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

So embarrassing. All those BYU fans going "Geaux Cougars!" The worst.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm not on the Fire Ty bandwagon, but I'd like to repeat my warning that swapping Ty for Anae would be a downgrade and potentially catastrophic. You can't help but love Detmer, even if his offense can't cross the 50 all game, so I doubt I'll ever jump on that bandwagon. But sure doesn't look good right now. Also, who's the guy that argued with me that Mangum was a 1st round top 10 pick and it was a terrible idea to bench him for Taysom. I really want to shove it in his face now.

I was always in the Taysom camp; not because I was down on Mangum, but because of Taysom's athletic abilities.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI'm not on the Fire Ty bandwagon, but I'd like to repeat my warning that swapping Ty for Anae would be a downgrade and potentially catastrophic. Mangum should not be as bad as he was last night. I don't think he has the supporting cast around him to succeed. Because of that, his own issues are magnified. He's shared his issues with anxiety, and how playing on the field is his safe space. I don't think he felt that way last night, and I think his anxiety was given a chance to inhibit his performance as a QB.
Our offense needs some people to step up in key positions.

Just wanted to get out in front of the bandwagon. But I'm legitimately concerned he's the issue. Taysom is one of the smartest dudes and he struggled all last year. He definitely regressed but we all chalked it up to him not being 100%. Tanner got his opportunities in the bowl game and spring game and he was terrible in each. But rain, right? 2 games into this season and it is clear he is not the freshman 2 months removed from the mission who was slinging it. He's regressed. A 5th year Thorterback and a 4th year former Elite 11 MVP both suck in Ty's offense. The receivers suck in Ty's offense. Does anyone believe that Eric Drage is more athletic than any receiver on our roster? If these guys can't get separation then you scheme it. Put guys in motion. Bunch formations. Slants. Double moves. Rub routes. Instead Ty insists on everyone lining up and beating their guy it seems. And when they do, Mangum is dare I say, even less accurate than Taysom was. I have no clue if he's injured or what but his arm is a noodle compared to what it was. But I suspect Ty has gotten in his ear about managing the game. I feared this when Tanner said you can't go broke making a profit several times in the offense season. So Ty is in his head and instead of spinning it he's pushing the ball, trying to guide it into spots because he's scared he's going to make a mistake. These next two weeks could be ugly.Originally posted by lambdacoug View Postwat"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I'm with you about the apology, but I really think Surfah might be onto something. Taysom's running might be the only thing that kept defenses even remotely honest last year. Ty might be the problem.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI was one of those people and I was wrong. I'm sorry Taysom.
One of the more spiritual guys on the board and I were chatting and he wondered if the Vegas Bowl destroyed Heaps in the same way Heaps wa ruined by Utah?Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
