  • Jamaal Williams All-American?

Surprised to discover that Jamaal Williams did not have his own thread, at least one that I could find using the CS search utility. I've been impressed by William's rushing this season; it appears to me he has taken it to another level. All the more impressive since I would not describe BYU's OL as dominant along with Taysom Hill and the WR corps not posing much of a deep threat to keep safeties honest. For the first half of the season, Williams is on par to match Luke Staley's 2001 season. If BYU had been a little more fortunate to win a couple of those close games, BYU would be ranked and Williams would be receiving more publicity for his gridiron performances.

Since I also follow Nebraska football, I've watched some very good RBs over the years and Jamaal Williams compares favorably, in my view, with the best of them.

Thank you, PB. A well-deserved thread.

Jamaal has been incredible this season. I think the year off was a blessing in disguise. He seems to be bigger, stronger, faster, and more mature. And a great leader for the team.

Remember when funk argued that BYU was toxic for Jamaal and that he should transfer? lol. what a dummy.

An additional benefit is he can provide some mentoring of Squally Canada.

I have read one article listing Williams among the top five of running backs. Amazingly, he has lost one career fumble in four years of play. He runs hard, gains yards after contact but has some break away speed. He is delightful on the sidelines and I imagine a great teammate. I will forever be a Jamaal Williams fan.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

He's also very shifty. He makes some very quick cuts that most RBs can't make.

His numbers should only get better as we hit the soft part of the schedule. I'd like to see him get some run for the Doak Walker. Kid deserves the attention. One of my favorites to ever play for us.

I wonder if that's true. They might not run him as hard if they don't need him as much.

They won't run him as hard but his ypc will go up. I expect 100+ yard games for Jamaal to not be a challenge against the last third of the schedule.

If he is not taken out too early. UMass? SUU? Geeze. Those could get ugly fast.

That's right, he'll have 100 yards in the first quarter.

I would, too. I think the first cut names ten candidates some time in November, and I think he would make that list if it were as of today.

I remember when he was a freshman I commented on here how he didn't have the hips or quick twitch or something to that effect. I think it was DH who responded that if he did he'd be playing elsewhere. I too will have to use the search tool...

Glad I was wrong, btw. I also think he has been coached up very well.

Check out the run in this video at 1:51, against Arizona. This isn't the best example of what I'm thinking of, but it shows he is elusive.

Embarrassed that he missed the mark so badly on Williams and BYU.
