I find discussions like this very interesting and I can't say I have a lot of issues with fivethirtyeight's list or the fact that this year's Alabama team may end up with the top spot.

No one was taking a stance that Nebraska would go undefeated. There were several games that were close prior to Purdue but Nebraska managed to take control and win and came very close to defeating Wisconsin on the road. Those were all games Nebraska lost last season. If the Buckeyes didn't expose the Huskers, Alabama certainly would have in the play-offs. I still think Nebraska could be a Top 10 team this season and that is excellent progress for a program that had a losing record last season.

Will be interesting to see how Nebraska responds to the embarrassing loss. As I stated earlier, the Huskers still have a ways to go before they are back competing for championships. They have further to go than I thought a few weeks ago. I didn't expect a win in the Horseshoe but didn't expect a blowout either. At least not until Tommy threw a pick for a TD on Nebraska's first possession.

On behalf of Omaha, I'm calling the SUwish for us on Wyoming's upset of Boise St.

Nebraska played well on the road against a good Wisconsin team losing in OT. Nebraska is not back to championship contention level but the Huskers appear to have turned the corner. Nebraska could still possibly get a play-off invite by defeating Ohio St. next week and winning out and beating Michigan/Ohio St. in the Big Ten CG but I don't think they have the team to do it. Alabama would embarrass Nebraska in a playoff game.

Wyoming, Northwestern, Minnesota, Maryland, and Iowa will all be going to bowl games so they shouldn't be labeled as "bad teams". I'm not stating that Nebraska has played a tough schedule to this point, the Husker are just starting the toughest part of their schedule. At the end of the season, over half of Nebraska's opponents will be playing in bowl games. That's quite different then 2 good teams and 10 bad ones. Last season, Nebraska was losing over half of those games, usually late in the game. The Huskers have turned the corner and are now closing out games in the fourth quarter. A 10-2 record will put Nebraska in the CCG.
