I don't think Utes have that sort of commitment. Just look at their hoops attendance. It was their flagship program for decades, and they have to use a WNBA curtain to hide their shame.
Super weird post; but I'm glad you are thinking about the Utes promotion to the big 10!

    1. The Utes aren't going anywhere! We love the BIGXII.
    2. Iowa is perhaps the most consistent team in college football. Do you follow them? Since 2001 they have had one season with a losing record and multiple 10 win seasons in a row. Terrible example of fans supporting a losing school.
    3. Comparing Ute hoops to Ute football is lazy. The last twenty years has seen the worst stretch of hoop coaches anyone could imagine: Giacoletti, Boylen, krysko, uncle fester. Football, during the same span, has seen one genius, generational talent and urban Meyer. We are, for better or worse, a football school now.

      Haha. Well done.

I'm curious how you feel about declaring Scalley the next guy vs a coaching search when Whitt retires. I get the stability it provides, but then you have a guy like Jay Hill ascending who clearly has something special and he's a Utah guy.

Keep ute fans in your thoughts and prayers. They are going through a rough patch.

I don't like it, but they forgot to ask my opinion! I also don't love Kyle's contract, but again, no input from me.

I know. That whole bit about sticking a knife in their necks and slitting their throats while looking in their eyes, and getting a sick satisfaction with no care in the world; that is all you, Bo.
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Speaking of not being asked like AJ said, doing the whole knife in the neck thing is what I would have advised to BYU if they had asked me about Utah when the Pac 12 was imploding. But turns out BYU didn't do that in spite of much neck-knifing being passively attempted by Utah in the independence years, much to the glee of the fanbase. Utah #1 pointing out how evil BYU is for apparently trying to bury Utah athletics is the same type of fan who was advocating never playing BYU again and trying to marginalize them so BYU sports withered and died. BYU is a better institution than I am a person so they won't do this; but to Utah#1 and all Utah fans like him I say ESAD and 3 is coming.

I thought we established I have no power. If I did the retaliation would not be passive.

                        1-Bullshit.
2- The Iowa example was not supporting a losing school, but fans supporting a mediocre school/program. Looking at more than their W-L record, you see their formula-Cupcake OOC to ensure bowl eligibility, plus depending on wins in the western division (which is by far the easier) with Purdue, NW, IL, WI, MN, NB. Look at their best season in recent memory, 2023: they lost to every ranked team they played (and an unranked Minn. Yes, a good season, but no signature wins.

2022: Losses to Iowa State, Ohio State Michigan, Illinois, and Nebraska (gulp). Wins over cupcake OOC and the West.
2021: Actually, a really good start to the season, and probably a better team than 2023.

But regardless, they put the same number of fans in their seats if they're competing for the CCG or if they are hoping for bowl eligibility. I'm not sure Utah fans will show up if they start to lose to BYU and only beat the bottom of the conference.

My evidence: #3, The Utes basketball program. Just as their hoops program can go from flagship to curtains (which is kind of BS...in most years, they've been a decent team; weren't they in the sweet 16 a few years back?), so can their football program. Especially with no B10 divisions anymore (which is how Iowa has maintained a better-than-they-actually are record).

Which is all to say, I hope the Utes go the B10 and become irrelevant, but I don't think they will get the invite.
