And you know you don't have to advertise it. I once spent a year in the Air Force ROTC, but you don't see me telling people about that embarrassing episode in my life. There's something about not airing dirty laundry...

I've been listening to our office Ute fanatic blather on about everything from quarterbacks to rain for the past 2 hours to anyone who'll listen. It is manna from heaven.

I was met with "don't even bring it up zoob" this morning from the co-workers. It has been amusing to see the talk go from "we will be ranked going in to play UCLA" to "I don't see more than one win the rest of year."Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostI've been listening to our office Ute fanatic blather on about everything from quarterbacks to rain for the past 2 hours to anyone who'll listen. This is fascinating, and yet neither surprising nor unique to the Ute fan base (imagine how different things would be in these parts if the weirdness at the end of the first half with Houston had continued for a few more minutes of that game). Because my son was at the Ute game, I was following it via Gametracker (no PAC-12 network where I live, but then I live almost twenty miles away from the nearest member school). After the first quarter, I was thinking "Crap, Utah is good and will be ranked for UCLA with good chance of a win at the Rose Bowl." And then a couple of hours later I was thinking 4-8. One half shouldn't make that much of a difference to a rational analyst, but I don't know many of those.

Oh, it happens to every fan base that starts hot. I was just pointing out that it has been amusing.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View Post[/B]

No, PAC is wrong. We are a lot more rational in our expectations and reactions.Originally posted by USUC View PostOh, it happens to every fan base that starts hot. I was just pointing out that it has been amusing.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Here is my stream of conscious about Utah this year. Is this not rational?Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View Post[/B]

After week 2: Utah destroyed two bad teams but that's what good teams do to bad teams. Maybe Utah is good. They definitely have a game breaker in Clay. And Wilson is looking like the good Wilson we've seen at times. Let's see what they do against Michigan. Utah has been a bad road team.
After Michigan: Wow, they hammered Michigan. But Michigan looked to be every bit as terrible against Utah as they did against Notre Dame. And, even though Utah beat them up on the scoreboard, the offense didn't look good. And Wilson took a nasty hit. Huh. Utah might be really good. Maybe.
During 1st qtr WSU: This looks like validation. Clay is awesome. Has WSU given up already? I can't watch this, it's gonna get ugly. Utah will go bowling. Easily. I hope they don't beat someone good and sneak into the conference title game. Click.
1 hour after the game ends I check my phone for first time since the 1st qtr. I have texts from 6 different friends: Oh wow, Utah must have lost. (Open first text.) Yep. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. This is fantastic. Utah's offense sucks. Again. If they can't score they can't win in the Pac. Will they win another game? Colorado. Maybe.
