  • How many times has BYU played and defeated a top tier program

when that program went on to have a successful year.

I can think of 1990 with Miami. That Miami team wasn't its best, but it was still good and if memory serves me correct, Miami ended ranked.
Kansas State in 1996. Did the Texas A&M team that Danny Frazier helped defeat in 1979 end up doing well?

Did TCU in 2006 finish ranked?

There may been the 1985 Air Force team. Any others?

Most other times, BYU has defeated a good, highly regarded program that team often had a very subpar season, such Pitt, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and a few others.

Can we just have one specific Topper thread where he poses similar questions over and over?

This thread is stupid. Oklahoma would have gone on to have a good season had we not knocked out Bradford.

Texas still has a chance to win 10 games this year and we knocked out David Ash.

I can't believe you morans fell for Topper's fake defeatist trolling. No one would be so sure about the program's demise as to start three different threads in such rapid succession.

I don't care so much about the color as the chemical composition of the bins; make sure they are polyethylene. Oh, and bring a couple gallons of hydrofluoric acid.

I'll play. In just the last few years:

In the 2009 Holy War, BYU beat a then 9-2 Utah team that finished the season 10-3 and ranked #18.
In 2012, BYU beat a USU team that finished the season 11-2 and ranked #16.
This year, BYU beat a Texas team that is currently 8-3 and ranked #23 (AP) and tied with Baylor and OklSt at 7-1 in the Big12.

Do those teams count in your description of a top tier program that went on to have a successful season? Probably not.

Yeah Topper is pretty much going to be pissed unless we beat the team that went on to win the National Championship and then he would claim that BYU sucked because it didn't win the NC itself. Dude just wants to complain.

Two out of three did. USU will never be considered a top tier team by me. Thanks for the additions. That is what I wanted to know.
