There is no shame in using trickeration, especially when over-matched. uofutah did it just the other night to get back into that game with Arizona.
I agree, although I'm still not convinced that it's something that only the overmatched teams should stoop to. Deception and misdirection is crucial to good play-calling and I'm unsure why some people seem to feel that some plays are "too deceptive." Where, exactly, is the line? I guess by that line of reasoning, a purist could argue that the offense should tell the defense exactly what it is about to do on any given play and then dare them to stop them.

One of the things I love about Chris Peterson is that he has a little bit of that playground mentality. I like Anae a lot but heaven knows I wish he had a little more of CP in him when it comes to playcalling.

me too. In fact it was 3.75 quarters of the least entertaining, somewhat embarrassing, football I had watched in some time. People only remember the last few minutes and OT, I guess.

Boise State reminds me of a similar initialed débutante- Britney Spears. They were both kind of new and interesting almost a decade ago, now not so much. In fact, I would be happy for both to just fade back into obscurity.

Hit me baby, one more time? Nah; just cry me a river.

Given that we play BSU for the next several years, many of those games later in the year, I'd prefer that they remain relevant.

            Britney Spears? I don't care.
            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Not sure I like the analogy, Art. The thing about BSU is that they have been anything BUT a flash in the pan á la Britney Spears. They've been amazingly consistent.

I'll admit it. I'm jealous. And the fact that we keep losing to them makes it even worse. If we lose this one on Friday, that will mean that CP is in Bronco's head for good. And we know how that story goes. See: Utah and TCU.

A win this year is imperative.

You can become a Boyzee fan anytime you want. Bandwagoners are welcome.

Boise has been good, but let's not forget that they usually kill a creampuff schedule. The are not Bama or USC.

The Boise of the last decade, is who BYU hopes to be for the next decade. Friday night Taysom will show the world who owns the 208!

It's funny to watch BYU fans struggle to find something to criticize: unbelievable success since joining the big boys? Check. A classy, likable coach with impeccable playcalling chops? Check. Likable players? See Kellen Moore. Check. A clean program? Check. Cool-looking turf? Okay, uncheck. A few idiot fans? Yes, but we have our share as well.

The 2007 Fiesta Bowl is, without a doubt, the most entertaining college football game I have ever seen that didn't include BYU. A script for it would have made Walt Disney blush with shame (of course the clip below leaves out Ian's Johnson's old-school proposal to his cheerleader gf, which was the icing on the cake).

I, of course, am sufficiently secure in my BYU fandom that I feel no compunction about confessing that I really like BSU. I realize that not everyone is similarly secure about their sports allegiances.
Didn't they get in trouble and lose some scholarships for something dumb? They'd be easy to casually like if some of their fans weren't so obnoxious. It's like a BYU fan on steroids. I love their coach. I hate their corny blue field. It was a cute novelty at first. At some point you say "Well, we're a big program now and big programs don't rely on this stuff."

They haven't even done that since about 2009. In 2010, they lost to Nevada to lose the WAC title outright and miss out on a BCS game. That might have been their best team ever. In 2011 they lost at home to TCU, losing the MWC. In 2012, they had a 3 way tie for the MWC title.

They went to the Vegas Bowl all 3 years. They'll end up there again if they win the conference this year because they've already lost two games. If Fresno goes BCS bowling, I'm sure the Vegas will invite them again anyways.

In the MWC, they've been much more BYU than the invincible Boise teams we've seen from 2004 until 2009.
