There were two. One came from the middle which is the one you saw and the other came from the sideline.

Usually when that happens it's fairly obvious. I thought it was obvious from my perch in the South EZ.
But did the hold impact the outcome of the play?

I watched the game for the first time last night. I watched the Hine return several times and never saw anything blatant on screen. But like was mentioned above, the flag came in from about 25 yards, so someone was pretty emphatic that they saw SOMETHING. Here's a photo from the Trib that shows a hold during the play.

I don't know if this is connected to the called hold, since this isn't until Hine avoids Phillips at the 40 and the flag seemed to have been thrown earlier than that.

Here's a question I had. It seemed like everyone has been so eager to credit Hine with the 103 yard return, but when I watched last night, it seemed pretty clear to me that Hine stepped out at the 40. Watching the side line official, he even seems to signal that Hine had stepped out. Anyone else take a close look at that?

          Maybe

Usually holds are called only at the point of attack. However kickoffs and punts more latitude is given. When the hold occurred the player possibly could have reacted in time to get in on the play.
