What a weekend. Getting together with excellent people, the board golf tournament, outstanding eats, sitting in the middle of a storm of biblical proportions with creek, Babs, pelagius, DDD, the Dude, et al., and then the game. Quite possibly my best BYU weekend trip ever.

Had a big day of football watching every second of Oregon and BYU. Between the two quarterbacks Mariota and Hill, Hill dominated the game like it was 1984. Can the Steve Young comparison hold up for a whole season? I hope so. Interesting stat from the TV, Texas hadn't lost a non conference road game in 13 years.

In my defense those posts came before the second quarter. If this is the result when I get whiny like a little girl then here goes ... Utah's defense will not fall for the read option the way Texas did. They will force Taysom to beat them through the air. I'm still not convinced he can. Utah is resurgent and Whit doesn't lose these games to BYU very often. He is a master of game tape and finding weaknesses.

Steve Young was a much better passer. Taysom will need to improve, even if only so much as to keep defenses playing honest. But that's a conversation to be had on a day other than one in which the shards of shattered records are scattered all about you. Get back to work on Monday morning, and until then, let the talk be about one of the most amazing performances a BYU quarterback has ever given.
