Utah safeties have not been good. The middle of the field has been wide open for USU.

The clock didn't run on that first play. Not sure if they fixed it or not because they didn't show it on the next play. Or the next. Nice job, FOX.

Okay, I'm finally caught up live on the Utah-USU game. A few thoughts:

- Utah's offensive line looks horrible.
- Chuckie Keeton looks very good. His players are making plays for him, but he's reading defenses well and absolutely carving up the Ute secondary.
- Travis Wilson is perhaps the best passer Utah has had in a while. He looks to be pretty accurate, stands in well, and delivers a nice ball.
- For the first time in a while, Utah looks like it has an offensive identity and plan. They may or may not being executing it (their running game has been miserable, largely due to the o-line IMO), but prior to this it's been schizophrenic.
- I'm not sure the commentators are watching the same game I am.

Amen. Petros is very good as a radio host, but just awful calling games, IMO.

Play at the end of the first quarter. USU's going hurry up. Utah's trying to substitute. USU snaps the ball with Utah's guys still on the USU side of the ball trying to run to get into position. Ref throws flag. Then waves it off. Announcers say it's because the offense is required to allow the defensive players to get in place. What? Is that right? Never heard of that. Seems to erode a lot of the advantage of the hurry up offense.

The rule is that if the offense subs in players, they have to wait for the defense to do their subs. USU's coach was pissed and kept yelling that they didn't sub anyone in, so Utah didn't have that protection.

USU has a really good DL. They've controlled the LOS for the most part.

Makes me ask WTH? So the refs make a bad call, the coach comes on the field and argues "but we didn't sub anybody in so the defense doesn't have that protection" - what is the refs response? "Uh well, we've already picked up the flag and don't want to look like dipshits so we stand by the cal- er, picking up the flag."

The big deal is that he doesn't want it to happen again because it slows down the tempo. Part of their strategy is moving quickly, and if you give the defense extra time to get set, they can rest and/or sub easier, and you lose part of your tactical advantage.

These refs strike me as a bunch of minor leaguers.
