For all this kind of talk, Jameis Winston would be as deserving a Heisman winner as any in the history of the award in terms of a combination of his on field production and team success.I'm like LeBron James.

I just think he's going to get screwed over because of these recent accusations, and nobody knows if he's guilty of them or not, but that seems to have some sway if people will vote for him or not. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Seems like he's guilty, so I wouldn't be heartbroken to see him get "screwed over" for it, but I agree that it will sway some voters despite the fact that he won't even be charged before the voting takes place.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI agree.

When did the Heisman turn into the best player on the best team award? Was it when RG3 won the Heisman with a 3 loss Baylor or when Manziel won the Heisman without aTM even winning its own conference? Or maybe it was when AJ McCarron never won the Heisman but was the starting QB for two national championship teams?Originally posted by The_Douger View PostTy Detmer would have never won a Heisman in this era.

It wasn't when Tommie Frazier did the same thing at Nebraska (QB winning 2 NCs) and was a missed FG as time expired from winning a third. Or when Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders won the Heisman playing for teams that didn't win their conferences. Hard to put a finger on when it changed.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWhen did the Heisman turn into the best player on the best team award? Colin Cowherd, who I can't stand most of the time, received a call from a Ohio State fan today. Apparently the line of argument for Big 10 idiots is that the ACC doesn't deserve to have a team in the championship over an undefeated Big 10 school. Rather than make the indefensible argument -- namely that the Big 10 is on par with the SEC -- they're instead making the other indefensible argument that Ohio State belongs in the game instead of FSU.
Cowherd then asks the Big 10 fan to name the top 5 schools in the Big 10.
Big 10 fan : "Ohio State, Michigan State...umm...Wisconsin...I guess...and then...umm...umm. Colin this isn't the point of my call, I'm just trying to say that if Ohio State doesn't go then Florida State shouldn't go."
FSU absolutely destroyed everyone on their schedule with the possible exception of BC who they beat by 14 points. BC would fared as well as a team like Penn State or Michigan this year. Duke is ranked ahead of Wisconsin in the human polls and they're respectively the third best teams in their conference. Other than that, each conference has their second best teams -- Michigan State and Clemson and then they're filled with a bunch of 7-5 and 6-6 teams. There's no substantive difference between Georgia Tech, BC, Penn State, Nebraska and Michigan this year.
But there is a major difference between FSU and Ohio State. Ohio State won by 10 or fewer points four times -- Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern. FSU's lowest margin of victory was 14 points. Their next lowest margin of victory was 27 points against Miami.
While I enjoy the premium that is placed on each and every game in college football, I'm also happy that they're going to a 4 game playoff. The fact that Ohio State enjoys a relatively small margin of victory in multiple games against sorry ass Big 10 competition and then can barely get by an unranked Michigan team (yes, as a BYU fan I realize the hilarity of this statement) and can go ahead of Alabama who loses on one of the weirdest plays in college football history is ridiculous. If Alabama played Ohio State ten times in Columbus they'd beat them nine times.
Ohio State is going to get throttled like Notre Dame did last yearPart of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
