BYU always seems to "win February," as the adage goes. Utah just keeps on making non-notable offers and being the premier program in the MWC, at least this decade.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Agreed, and yet despite winning the recruiting battle every year, we draw on the "Utah recruits better athletes" excuse when we lose. I don't get it. It's not like this list is a bunch of fat O-linemen.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostBYU always seems to "win February," as the adage goes. But . . . having now bragged up Utah, somewhat obnoxiously (and all in good fun), I must add that I fear the day, which may come, when the Church is big enough that it produces enough blue-chip recruits to make BYU really fearsome. Maybe I won't live to see that day. That would be OK with me.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostAgreed, and yet despite winning the recruiting battle every year, we draw on the "Utah recruits better athletes" excuse when we lose. Let's get real. If you are comparing the 31st best recruiting class to the
40th the distinction is nonsense and arbitrary. The rankings really only inform in a very gross kind of way. Top 10 being better than top 30th, for example. But as close as Utah and BYU are it all comes down to coaching, ethos, intangibles. We're talking about kids here. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I had heard that it was Stanley Havili who gave him the USC eye blacks. Stanly was there on the sideline for the game.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI saw them mention the eye patches on TV, but they said that he got them before the game from John Martinez. I guess Martinez really wants him to play at USC. I was told that it is between BYU, LSU and USC for X. Which is surprising since he wanted no part of BYU for the past 2 years, in fact his dad wanted him to go out of state eventhough his dad is a diehard BYU fan.
