What to do with bowls now that there is a playoff?

Now that the NCAA and BCS powers have decided to have a mini play off what should we do with the other now meaningless bowls?

After watching BYU in the NIT I had a thought. Why not make the football bowl games into mini playoffs? Instead of one each bowl game the other bowls could work together and have little mini playoffs and declare a champion. So instead of the Bell helicopter bowl there could be a playoff of 4 or 8 teams in a series that play for the Bell Helicopter championship. The host cities could rotate where the championship is played and have regional type bowl games that feed into a national Bell Helicopter championship for national interest.

Throw them all in the garbage. Bowl games are a stupid way to "celebrate" an otherwise competitive season.

They need to raise the minimum number of wins required to 8. Then they need to cut 2/3 of the bowl games.

Are the bowls any more meaningless with a playoff than they were before? No. Bowl games have always been meaningless and always will be. CFB needs a 16 team playoff and everyone else with a winning record gets a meaningless bowl game. It's the obvious solution and I'm confident it will get there someday.

Then we would only have one bowl game in DFW.

DFW will get another bowl in the '14 college football season... cool.

College Football Playoff will be the name of the four-team playoff, which begins after the 2014 regular season.

Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be awarded the College Football Playoff's first national championship game, to be held Jan. 12, 2015.

Also, the Fiesta, Cotton and Chick-fil-A bowls will join the Rose, Sugar and Orange bowls in the six-bowl semifinal rotation for the new playoff.

A semifinal game and the final game at JerryWorld.

Check it. This is awesome, except as an 8 seed, looks like we have to play Auburn in the second round!

I like our chances to pull that upset. I think LSU vs Oregon in the Elite 8 would be a great game.

I don't know about everyone else who will just be observers of the "big boys" duking it out every year, but BYU has a huge option.

Throngs and Throngs of fans will follow BYU no matter what. It is a proven. Excellent players will choose BYU over bigger programs, that has been proven.

BYU should drop down a level and dominant 1A football or whatever it is called. We would probably be in the National Championship every year. Who cares what division?? National domination, here we come.

It has #9 Nebraska in the same 4-team bracket as #1 Michigan St. who Nebraska already played in November. And if Nebraska were able to defeat both #8 Vanderbilt and Mich St., they might have to play #4 UCLA who the Huskers already played in September. Surprised a way wasn't found to also place #8 Iowa and #12 Minnesota in the same bracket as Nebraska.

I'd rather stay with the current bowl system and Nebraska play #5 Georgia in the Gator Bowl.

I thought BYU's 8th seeding was also curious, but it only took me a second to realize that in a four-bracket setup, the 8th seeds are really the 50-53 seed overall, which is probably about right. 7 seed would also be ok.

Since you are a moran, you didn't figure that out but now you know.

This is a pointless theoretical exercise but I did enjoy the fact that Utah was not included.
