  • 2013 Two-deep projections

Let's see the projections for BYU and Utahs two-deep for next year. Here are my projections:

QB- Taysom Hill, Jason Munns, Billy Green
RB- Michael Alisa (yep he gets his spot back), Jamaal Williams, Adam Hine, AJ Moore
FB- Iona Pritchard, Patrick Palau, Joey Owens (I think he plays offense next year)
WR- Cody Hoffman, Skyler Ridley, Talon Shumway
WR- Ross Apo, Brett Thompson, Mitch Matthews
    WR- JD Falslev, Michael Davis
TE- Friel, Wilson, Mahina, Matthews, Reden,
    LT- Ryker Matthews, Michael Yeck
    RT- D'ondre Wesley, Brock Stringham
    RG- Houston Reynolds, Maanaki Vaitai
LG- Solomone Kafu, Josh Carter, Tim Duran
C- Brayden Kearsley, Blair Tushaus, Edward Fusi

DE- Bronson Kaufusi, Theodore King, Remington Peck
    DE- Eathyn Manumaleuna, Austin Holt
DT- Tui Crichton, Tuni Kanuch, Marques Johnson
    OLB- KVN, Alani Fua, JLD
MLB- Uani Unga, Butch Pau'u (depending on mission plans)
MLB- Manoa Pikula, Kalolo Utu, Chasen Anderson
    OLB- Spencer Hadley, Teu Kautai
    CB- Jordan Johnson, Samuel Lee
CB- Trenton Tramell, Mike Hague, Drew Reilly
S- Craig Bills, Michael Wadsworth, Jacob Hanneman
    S- Daniel Sorenson, Sawyer Powell

This is purely speculation and after spring ball we will have a better idea.

That would be awesome if Alisa reclaimed the starting spot because it would cause innumerable carotids to spontaneously burst.

I agree with you except the following positions:

RB: Jamaal Williams, Michael Alisa, Adam Hine, Paul Lasike
      TE: Devin Mahina, Friel, Wilson
RG: I don't know who plays but I think Houston Reynolds will retire.
Linebackers: I think the starters at ILB are Uani Unga and Spencer Hadley and the starters at OLB will be Alani Fua and KVN.

      I think that is it.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I'd be surprised if Billy Green beats out Ammon Olsen for 3rd string.

I've always expected Alisa will get his job back, right or wrong.

TE, still not sure who is going to take a hold of this position, but I fully expect that the position will be used as it was before with Anae.

Can't disagree with anything on defense(maybe Hague as cover corner?). I am hoping the D line steps up (or someone) and not have too much of a drop off from last year.

I could see Alisa being named the starter with the whole "can't lose a position due to injury" line of thinking, but I just don't see him holding onto it.

How worried should I about a true frosh who has never played center starting at center?
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I think Utu ends up RS and playing DE. My prediction for the 4 ILBs who play will be Unga, Hadley, Tyler Beck and Manoa Pikula.

I think the TE chart is going to be rearranged as Anae puts them in the slot more often than Doman did.

I'd be more concerned if it is Tushaus again.

What happened to Friel? He looked great to start the year but sure disappeared. Experts give me your opinions. Early start was a bit flukey? Better figured him out? Defenses just started paying attention too him? Riley/other QB stopped looking for him?

I think we will see Mahina emerge as the go to down lineman TE with Friel backing him up and Wilson seeing reps in the slot. I think all 3 will play quite a bit.

I went with Pikula due to Broncos comments about him being the "heir apparent" to Brandon Ogletree in the middle.

I honestly think it was all of the above. He also had a serious case of the dropsies midway through the season.

Bronco is always saying shit he doesn't mean. I could be wrong and perhaps I am going off of recruiting memories mostly, likely the case, but if Alani Fua puts on 10-15 more pounds by next August, hardly a difficult task given his Poly genes and the fact that he will be 22 by then, I think the 4 best LBs this year will be KVN, Hadley, Unga and Alani Fua. But perhaps Pikula is better than Fua. Or perhaps KVN, Unga, Pikula and Hadley make for the 4 best. I would like to see BYU's ILB get just a hair faster and I think Hadley at ILB would facilitate that happening. I fancy myself a bit like God Shamgod, I am a facilitator!

I don't know about that. Kid's been here for three years now and i'm not sure he's put on 15 lbs total in that three years.

Is Thompson a junior this year? Is this the year he breaks out a little? He seemed to get quite a bit of buzz before his mission.
