We might have had some trouble with Thomas and Barner so it probably would have been close probably.

I don't think Oregon is the next best team. Texas A&M is better then both of these teams. The powers to be did not let Oklahoma State play Bama last year. We need a playoff.

I hate Alabama as much as the next guy, but the way they are playing tonight, I don't think Oregon could stop them or score enough to win.

Oregon would get pushed around in the trenches.

Oregon would get creamed by these guys.

As a temporary Oregonian, I should probably say Oregon. But probably Alabama.

Oregon, Saban struggles against spread no huddle teams. There is a reason he bitches about it and is trying to get rules changed because he can't beat it.

Oregon is better than aTm and plays the same style.

Oregon struggles against teams that are tougher upfront they are on both sides of the ball. Bama is a souped up version of Stanford that took ya'll out this year. I do think that Oregon was an excellent team and might get Bama now and again, but it was Johnny Manziel's creativity, passing, and scrambling that beat us, not so much the spread.

Johnny Manziel is quite a lot better than Marcus Mariota.

And Bama is better than Stanford and plays the same style.

It's a stupid question. Oregon would win on some days and Alabama would win on others.

Oregon couldn't even hold up against how physical Stanford was. Alabama would grind them down and beat them by 3 scores.

I voted Alabama close. I think Saban would have had enough time to slow Oregon down and keep the game in the 20s. They wouldn't have run over the Ducks like they did ND, and they would have worked to take the air out of the ball and shorten the game. For all of Chip's success he has only 1 win, Cal 2010 Tedford's Fake Injuries, where he wins without prolific offense. I think Bama would have won something like 27-22. Oregon has also always started slowly on cross country road trips, I know a bowl is different than a regular game but I think that would have contributed as well.

I'm not sure what Douger saw in the Oregon/Stanford game that makes him think Oregon couldn't hold up, you realize it went to OT right? If Oregon had a decent HS kicker they likely win, but a 3 point win becomes a blowout with time and the internet. I've read and heard lots of things about how Auburn destroyed Oregon 2 years ago, so it must be true.

What about the possibility that aTm was really the best team in the country by end of the season? That this hypothetical includes two teams that would really be playing for second place had there been a playoff?

They have the best player and finished the season with six straight wins, all blowout victories with the exception of the Alabama game that they led from start to finish.

Reason #218247 for having a playoff.
