Bob Ladouceur and De La Salle

This may be a one-post thread, but it should be noted that Bob Ladouceur announced his retirement as HC of De La Salle Football after 34 years (he's 58). Consider that with no previous experience at the age of 24, he ended up with a 399-25-3 record and seven MNC's, as bestowed by the national press. By pretty much all accounts, a good and decent guy to boot.

I've known several kids who played on various DLS opponent teams. Their consistent observation was that physically DLS wasn't especially great, but that in terms of execution they were pretty much perfect. I wonder if Bob would consider coming to BYU as the new OL coach.

Yeah that's really an amazing record. He didn't want to win 400?

DLS is practically down the street from my house. They are quite a program. Although some in the area grouse about recruiting and improper incentives, etc., my impression is that the guy did it properly. He has had some health issues, however, and I have heard that played the major role in this decision.
        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

His record is even more remarkable, if that's possible, given that De La Salle had never had a winning season before he took over.

I'll never forget when that streak was broken as I was at the game. It was the first game of the season for Bellevue in Seattle and De La Salle came to town. Bellevue was starting a 14 year old 9th grader at QB. IIRC, DLS scored on an 85 yard drive to open the game on their first possession and it looked like the rout was on. Bellevue got the ball and on their first possession, scored a TD on a long TD run and that was actually the beginning of what would prove to be a blowout win.

James Hasty, B'vue's star tailback ran for something like 250 yards on the day as Bellevue won the game 39-20 led by their 14 yo QB running the wing-T offense seemingly to perfection and never throwing a pass. An absolutely dominating and shocking performance.
