This YouTube video of an Alabama fan melting down on their final drive of the game. This dude is watching the game and playing Call of Duty at the same time.
Well, it's very, very sad for Alabama but THEY LOST.
When only two teams can go, and the other teams are undefeated and have better or similar SoS, then you don't get to go.
I don't care what touchy feely notion they feel about how good Bama might be. The SEC is not nearly as great this year. They lost on their own field to a lower ranked team, just like last year.
The Tide can go eat a pile of dog crap.
This is exactly right. For another thing, for all the talk about how great the SEC is and how tough it is to play an SEC schedule, Bama has only played 2 of the aTm/Florida/Georgia/LSU/USC bunch, and in those 2 games they shuld have lost to LSU and did lose to aTm. On top of that, they only have Westest Carolina and Auburn left of their schedule. Now that Mississippi State's suckiness has been confirmed, Bama has played all of 2 top 25 teams this year, with the results I mentioned above.
Now, Oregon, KSU, and ND hven't exactly played murderes's row either, but the idea that it's unfair for Bama to be excluded when it has played some incredibly tough schedule just isn't accurate.
Somebody posted this on utefans. I thought it was pretty funny:

I like how he's smart enough to know they should go for it on 4th down, down 5 points.

Orangeute and I took our families on a roadie this weekend to catch the Cal/Oregon game. Neither one of us had any dogs in this fight, as we were just hoping to catch a good game and see the Ducks play this season. HFNW would disagree, however, based on my family's poor choice of game day apparel.
I went down the night before with another family so that we could hang out in Berkeley for the day before the game. While I could never live there, Berkeley is a very cool town to visit. My younger brother lives there and he loves it. He took us to a little diner just off the main downtown area for lunch that was a lot of fun. We then drove through the whole campus area and past the stadium on our way up into the Berkeley hills to the Lawrence Hall of Science. It boasts one of the most amazing views of the entire Bay Area.
Just for fun and to avoid post-game car traffic, we decided to take the BART from our hotel into the stadium. Totally packed the whole 20 minute ride, mostly full of Duck fans. Kids love their train rides. We weren't accosted along the way, but I got a nice contact high while walking through the station terminal. The first of several that I would get on the weekend.
The walk from the downtown BART station into the stadium was a lot of fun. It took us directly through the middle of campus. Beautiful campus, tons of interesting folks along the way, and hoards of Duck fans.
As we passed the clock tower, we came upon the Cal marching band that was slowly making their way through campus up to the stadium. So we joined several thousand other people in following right along with them as they marched and played their way there. Very fun atmosphere. The kids had a blast.
Inside the stadium, I would guess that it was about 40% Duck fans. I saw a steady stream of them driving through my home town on the 2 days before the game. A bunch of them that we spoke with were locals, though. With a seating capacity of 63,000, that was a ton of fans. And they were loud. When Cal was in the south end zone during the first half (where we were seated) they were having a very hard time hearing and called two time-outs because of the noise.
The game turned out about like most of us expected. Cal made it interesting the first 2 ½ quarters like they usually do against Oregon at home. But it never really felt like the game was in jeopardy. Cal did a great job of stopping the run, and their punter did an amazing job of keeping the ball out of Thomas's hands. But Mariota was the difference maker, as he was very impressive moving his feet and throwing the ball. He didn't make any dumb decisions and he is lightening fast. I never heard what his injury was, but he was in a lot of pain when he left the field. Good to see that it wasn't too serious.
Very fun weekend. I wish that I had something to add to the “What I Learned in Church Today” thread, but we instead spent the day wandering around San Francisco.
If it had happened without losses by Oregon and K-State, you'd really have something to hang your hat on.
