Riley should start if healthy. The problem is, I'm not sure how you get him healthy without sitting him at this point. If he can't go, then I'm not sure what you do. All signs point to hill, but it seems like lark has at least earned a shot.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

They shouldn't even think about using Nelson until the USU game, at the bare minimum. There's no way he's going to be ready this week.

Riley's performances against Tulsa and Boise actually have a lot of similarities. Against Tulsa he averaged 1.2 yards per carry on 13 attempts. Against BSU he averaged 1.9 ypc on 7 attempts.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostIf you can't see the difference in Riley between the Tulsa and Boise games, then it's clear you're out of your effing mind. Riley isn't a very good QB, but despite that fact you simply don't know a damn thing about football. Your pig-headed determination to beat this horse enough to be on PETA's Top 10 Most Wanted List has afforded us the opportunity to see how ignorant you are.
Against Tulsa he completed 42.5% of his passes. Against BSU 44.4% of his passes.
Against Tulsa he threw 2 INTS (and had two more easy ones dropped) against BSU he threw 3 INTs.
Obviously, the big difference is that vs Tulsa he managed to extend a few plays long enough to pull rabbits out of the hat and was crafty enough to make the quick throw at the end for the win.
But the overall sloppy, disorganized and desperate style of play was similar. Of course that doesn't mean he wouldn't have performed better against BSU if he wasn't hurt - but he performed nearly as badly v Tulsa when he was healthy.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī
It can't all be wedding cake.

Yeah. I'll be surprised if it isn't Hill.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostIt's going to be Hill.
I know that some would say waiting means that Hawaii has to prepare for both - whatever.
I think a bigger deal is that by waiting Bronco/Doman can say that Nelson is still their guy and they were waiting to see if he would get healthy during the week. And since he didn't, they are going to play Hill and see how Riley is feeling next week.
Many will hope that this means Hill will start the rest of the season. I doubt he will.
I'm trying to decide what I want the coaches to learn from this whole adventure, while trying to figure out what they learned last year.
Did they learn that they should've stuck with Heaps and to let a QB work through difficulty? Are they still convinced they did the right thing in pulling Heaps - in which case you have to ask why they don't see that same problem with Riley?
I know there are some differences - but I'm trying to figure out what Heaps did that was worse than what Nelson has done the past two games. I'm not seeing it.
Mostly I'm disappointed that if the coaches knew Riley was really hurt and was not able to perform up the the standard necessary, then why did they leave him in the game?
