Of those four teams BYU beat three of them were 21-40 ranked team by good model benchmarking (and don't even bother trying to argue against my use of models). That's not mediocre; they were good (but not great or elite) teams that year. One (Utah St) was on the mediocre/poor line despite the winning record.

But this is beside the point. No one is arguing that 2010 and 2011 were great years. There was a drop-off from the 2006-2009 years, but it is not quite the drop-off that some here suggest and it is well within normal modern BYU historical variation outside of the 1979-1985 window. Hopefully, this year will be more like Bronco's typical season. Inferring doom at this point is way over board. If BYU ends the season in the 50-60 range than the evidence will be much more in your favor.
I just want to see us stop losing to some of these teams. There's no reason we shouldn't have handled Utah, with all the turbulence they came in to the game with. All credit to them for making the plays when it mattered, and to their coach who always has them prepared to play in the rivalry game. Our coach never has us prepared to play in the rivalry game, except for one year, in 2010.

I'm annoyed the coaches let the QB situation get to where it went in 2010 and let that continue on to last year. I'm annoyed that we have a 4 star QB sitting on the bench while Rudy continues to play and be the limited player we all know he is.

I could go on and on, but I'd like us to have one magic year where we don't have losses at the end of September and our coach acts like he cares when we lose.

My biggest concern is that the people running the school don't have the vision for us to be the type of football program that many of us want it to be, so the long term outlook for me is lessened, I guess. Maybe that's what the Lord wants.

As far as the quality of Washington in 2010, Tulsa last year, USU last year, and SDSU the year before, you can run all the models you want. USU wasn't a good team last year. They played to the level of their competition. 7-6 Washington didn't impress me that much, especially with a first round QB. I think our best win of that group was the Tulsa team, who I thought played pretty tough against us. I always expect us to beat SDSU. I think they were all decent to good teams. I guess I expect us to occasionally beat a team that's better than those, which we've seemed to struggle doing lately.

When I see us hand tough against Texas and shit the bed in the second half, and then completely fall apart in all aspects the next week against Utah, and later in the season against TCU; it makes me think it's all a facade at some point.

I agree with that completely, which is why going independent never made any sense to me. It was kind of an arrogant move. I think there are some in the administration who believe that having top-notch facilities means we have a top-notch program. Yeah, we created our own network to give us exposure, but that's not really exposure. It's like self-publishing your own book. So, you're right about independence, but that's a whole other thread.
