As far as the official winding the clock on the downed ball with :08 left, they corrected the time back to :08 when they realized the error. No harm, no foul.

I've heard from different fan bases that Utah isn't simulating the snap, rather the safeties are calling out a line shift.

Kyle Gunther(former Ute Oline) says that Utah has been mimicking the snap for over ten years. Just wanted to clarify and say BYU shouldn't use this as an excuse for sucking.

As I said a well prepared team wouldn't move. Obviously Whit knows it bothers BYU and uses it. But it's simulating a snap count and bush league imo.

I know the Utes have done the latter for a long time, and it's in all the Utah game film. But if they were vocalizing to confuse the BYU o-line, isn't that a penalty?

And then wound it again before the snap on the final pass. Nelson got the snap at :06. If they hadn't done that, the fans don't rush the first time. There would have been at least :02 on the clock.

Not the time keepers fault. He was doing exactly what the ref motioned. And the ref announced before the snap that the clock would start on his whistle. The ref screwed up.

Sunday night and we are already seeing excuses for BYUs loss (noise, gamesmanship, independence, recruiting disparities, fan indifference to name a few).

I wasn't expecting that until tomorrow. If we are running a day ahead of schedule, tomorrow should be a great day filled with second hand anecdotes of torture, cruel treatment, fan insults, violence, elder abuse, and anti Mormonism at RES.

Hsaru you are truly a football imbecile. You brought up Max earlier in this thread. Max had one of the worst performances ever in the rivalry in 2008. Riley's performance in this game was nowhere near that bad.

Also no QB can be put in holes by constant penalties and be expected to will the offense to crawl out. It doesn't work that way. Anyone who is placing this loss entirely on Riley is a moron. The offense as a whole broke down because it was constantly put in long yardage situations because of penalties.

Another thing, when Riley throws a pick he attempts to, and in this case did, make the tackle.

Can you really deny riley sucked for 3 quarters last night? No the loss isnt 100% on him, but he shares a a very large portion of the blame.

I'm simply saying that 5 grown-ass men shit their pants on national tv because a) it was loud (which, btw PU, I never said or even implied the crowd noise wasn't a major factor), b)a future first round nosetackle was staring into their eyes and about to eat their lunch, c) they were grossly underprepared, and d) they let a simultaneous line shift cause them to move even on silent counts. I have no idea if they were barking out calls or not but LA, the intent is not only to cause confusion on blocking assignments for the O-line it is also done expertly to simulate a move on the snap. A prepared team would simply look at the ball, concentrate on their gaps, and cowboy-up.

I like Kyle a lot. I have always thought most of the crap our fans talk about Kyle are just that, crap.

That being said, I was dissapointed about the whining in his presser after the game. It was like he lost. WE won 3 times, if the FG was good would we play on Monday, etc.

I still am a Kyle Whitt fan, just a bit dissapointed. I will chalk it up to heat of the rivalry.

I see. I didn't hear that part. I don't get why he would have reset it from four if he was going to start it when the ball was set to play.which is what he did when it ran down to :04 in the first place. That error caused all of the chaos that ensued

The refs were really a big part of this game -- bad calls on both sides. I don't remember watching a game that had the refs' imprint the way this one does.
