Yep. This rivalry is dead. It went from a top 10 rivalry to something along the lines of Virginia-Virginia Tech or Wyoming-CSU.

It's just too hard to play BYU and Utah State all the time. Tulsa and Northern Colorado are much more fun. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

A top 10 rivalry?
My guess is that Virginia and va tech think they have a fierce rivalry, too.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I'd like to bare you my Cougarmony.
I know the Cougars are true.
I love my mom and dad, and Bronco, and my home teaching companion who was a great wingman with that chunky returned sister missionary, and trips to the Creamery, and shrines to Jimmy Mac, and drinking caffeinated pop at Heaps of Pizza, and all of you who pretend you can only remember the words in Portuguese while you are NICMOing at Bridal Veil every Saturday night, and who hold hands with your startled wives at the Bed, Bath, and Beyond on the Parkway.
As Bruce R. Fielding McConkie said in Collie 4:18: "Rise and shout, the Cougars are out, and they are in the other genders' apartments after midnight! For lo, the dragon must be trained, the princess bride must not mean what you think it means, and certain scenes in Shrek must be muted. For did our mothers not know it? Magic happens when you play the bassoon and make a phone call. Boscoes are hobbled, Fowlers step in, and yea verily, all things come to pass when the line isn't blocking for Bellini."
I feel the tender mercies when purse straps are worn across pom poms, mustaches are sported, and George Q. fires and disturbs the rearrangement of Rodin. Bless the mouth of those who today curse the refs and tomorrow bless the sacrament! Bless the hands of those who breastfeed while giving a drunken Ute the beat down!
May those who guzzle pickle juice run faster than they are able and pound the snot out of the Ute's DL without being weary! May the warriors of the Lord's University, clothed in the armor of modesty, beat the holy hell out of the loincloth wearing Lamanites from the land of Nephi! Bronco, Doman, and women wearing tight, black pants and heels on the sidelines, we sustain you! We knew who Steve Young was when we picked him up! We knew who Ty Detmer was when we baptized him into our cult! We knew who Max Hall was when the Utes were chasing his family out of the city of Gid! We are the Armies of Helaman Halls!
Alisa, push through the line with all the determination of a handcart pioneer! Nelson, run, pass, and dodge with all the skill of the Correlation Committee! Those who stand with Ogletree are greater than those who have a lame bird for a mascott and a loss to an agricultural school!
Cougars, do your duty!
I say this in the name of Saint Lavell Edwards, amen.We all trust our own unorthodoxies.

That was great. Loved seeing KVN jump that dude. I don't remember that from the game footage.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostThis link was on CB. Some high school kid filmed and edited video highlights of the BYU-Wazzou game. It is just phenomenal. I hesitate to call a football highlight reel lyrical, but this one almost is.
Yes, it's BYU-WSU footage, but he's got footage of a down syndrome kid, a referee in profile, ROTC cadets, alumni players, Riley Stephenson leading a huddle, second string players interacting on the bench, and he shows pretty clearly the sheer unabashed joy of the warriors doing what they love. After watching this, you'll think "It's a great day to be a football player."
Plus, the footage of Van Noy at 4:06 isn't too shabby either.

USC-Notre Dame (more storied than fierce. I would call USC-UCLA more fierce than storied).

USC-UCLA is not poisonous like Utah-BYU is, IMO. I don't have experience with the others. I envy the fierce but less poisonous rivalries; they seem more enjoyable.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostRivalries more fierce than Utah-BYU (not all-inclusive):

Referencing the MMM seems like it crosses the line though to be honest.
