I almost forgot to ask: Who was the "honorary flag carrier" for BYU last night at the start of the game?

Fake punts?Originally posted by nikuman View PostAgreed. I'm not sure why I think he's an asshole. Tainted from the rivalry? Maybe. I think it's because of that stupid Tim Duncan face and fake punts. There's no good reason behind it and I'm sure if I met him he'd be fine. He's surely not on par with Jim Boeheim or anything.
I do think the USU game is an interesting parallel.

No on LR.Originally posted by Topper View PostI would trade Bronco for Kyle in a nano-second. He was the best choice for BYU but BYU was not able to lure him away, for whatever reason. Lance Reynolds may have been a more stable force.
There is nothing to indicate Kyle is anything but a very good football coach.
Dude was in the parking lot eating a hot dog 3 hours before kickoff of the U game last year.
I knew immediately BYU was going to get waxed.

I had no idea you can tell how a team will do on the basis of what an assistant is eating before the game. When, where, and what would he have been eating if BYU was going to do well?Originally posted by fusnik View PostNo on LR.

Do you have season tickets this year for the Orange? The basketball team of course, not the football team.Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostSteelblue believes the flag-bearer's pre-game antics at mid field cursed the Cougs."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

What does that even mean?

Well, then, thank you very much, Fumblin' Fui Vakapuna!Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostSteelblue believes the flag-bearer's pre-game antics at mid field cursed the Cougs.
That went a long way to increase the civility of the game.
The tuba players were either clueless or well-restrained. Had it been me, the horn would have put a nice gash on his face rather than walking around the display.
"Oops, really sorry about that gash in your head. There's usually not a douchebag dancing around with a flag when we do this formation. That red looks really nice on that flag, BTW."

something I think that gets overlooked in college football is how difficult those first road games of the year are. Home teams in college football win 60% of the time. Utah struggled in Logan after a glorified scrimmage against No. Colorado. BYU struggled in SLC, after a scrimmage against Weber, and a pretty easy game against WSU.
I don't know about BYU, but Utah typically struggles in that first road affair. I think they are sub. 500 under Whitt.

What he do? He didn't pee on the U logo did he? That would be classless, it is best done in the locker room urinal's, right.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostWell, then, thank you very much, Fumblin' Fui Vakapuna!

I think he is an asshole because both he and Chris Hill don't really cAre that much about continuing the rivalry. The fact that it won't be played for two years after 2013 is an absolute joke and is a direct result of the wishes of both Kyle and Chris.Originally posted by nikuman View PostAgreed. Not in the Legacy parking lot 3 hours before kickoff. And he wouldn't be eating a hot dog some fan made on his portable propane grill.Originally posted by All-American View PostI had no idea you can tell how a team will do on the basis of what an assistant is eating before the game. His ass should have been in an office with the other offensive coaches working.
But maybe a 40 hour work week and eating tailgate food is acceptable during rivalry week for the BYU coaching staff.

It was also a bad call by the ref (among many). The BYU sideline did the same thing, the two would offset and then there is no retry.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostIt's easy to pile on Utah fans because the penalty was, in effect, called on those who rushed the field. But Utah blew it by not covering a live ball that could be advanced. If Utah recovers the blocked kick, I'm fairly certain there wouldn't have been a second BYU FG attempt -- Utah would have merely been penalized 15 yards from the spot where it recovered the ball. And since the clock would have read 0:00 and there can be no untimed down based on a penalty by the "offense", the game would have been over right there.
