II went to http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin-ar chive.htm#foot and did the math myself.

Over the last 10 years, the #1 rated conference was the SEC, with an average ranking of #2.4. The PAC was #2, with an average ranking of #2.9. The Big-12 was #3, with an average ranking of #3.3. The ACC was #4, with an average ranking of #3.5. The B1G was #5, with an average ranking of #4.5.

    2011 - PAC #4 SEC #2 B1G #3 ACC #7 Big-12 #1
    2010 - PAC #1 SEC #2 B1G #5 ACC #4 Big-12 #3
    2009 - PAC #3 SEC #1 B1G #6 ACC #4 Big-12 #5
    2008 - PAC #4 SEC #1 B1G #6 ACC #3 Big-12 #2
    2007 - PAC #2 SEC #1 B1G #6 ACC #5 Big-12 #3
    2006 - PAC #3 SEC #1 B1G #5 ACC #4 Big-12 #6
    2005 - PAC #4 SEC #5 B1G #1 ACC #2 Big-12 #3
    2004 - PAC #2 SEC #6 B1G #5 ACC #1 Big-12 #4
    2003 - PAC #4 SEC #2 B1G #3 ACC #1 Big-12 #5
    2002 - PAC #2 SEC #3 B1G #5 ACC #4 Big-12 #1

    Ave. - #2.9 - #2.4 -- #4.5 -- #3.5 --- #3.3
Read the beginning of the thread. I provided similar evidence about the pac-10/12 (although, I was looking at the orgonal question about decline not the level or relative strength) including a more specific look at the top end of the distribution. The thread persisted for many reasons including because people wanted to argue over the definition of average (but not because any one seriously believes Calicoug's hypothesis about the pac-12 trending down (he called it awfulness but it was really some point about a downward trend)).

    • lol this thread will stand as a monument to the most spectacularly failed troll of all time.

                • Unreal. Stanford really is an amazing place.

If companies founded by Stanford University alumni formed an independent nation, it would be the 10th largest economy in the world.

Graduates of 'The Farm' have created an estimated 5.4 million jobs and generate annual revenues of nearly $3 trillion dollars

Yes, Stanford has the best tech transfer program in the country. MIT #2.

That's all related to the servicing of their student loans.

I bet the Google founders have been able to pay theirs back.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean by "best tech transfer", but I thought Utah was #1 last year in creating businesses from research, and MIT was #2?
