  • Utah Hires Brian Johnson to be Offensive Coordinator

    http://espn.kall700sports.com/2012/0...e-coordinator/

mp is going to wake up to what he, and I am sure many others, will consider confusing and possibly troubling news.

Brian Johnson, age 24, will be the new offensive coordinator at the University of Utah.

    Ho-ly cow.

Well, I really don't know what to say. BJ must be some kind of offensive genius.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

That is nuts. I love BJ, I think he'll do will eventually, but when was the last time a team in a BCS conference had a OC this young?

Didn't most feel like he really struggled as the QB coach? Or was it only me?

This is the best Utah could do? Sorry, I'm not buying that. Wtf is up with this hire? There are no better candidates?

I never thought I would say this and actually have some people agree with me, but Crowton seems like just as good, if not a better hire.

Very bizarre move on the Hill.

You could see utah doing this with its dc, but not the oc. Good luck bj. I think you're going to need it.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

It is no coincidence that they waited until all the faxes were in BEFORE announcing this. I can't imagine too many recruits lining up to play in a Brian Johnson offensive scheme.

Its very possible Johnson could be coaching kids that are his same age, maybe even older.

When is the last time ANYONE had a 24 year old offensive coordinator?

This will be a very interesting ride.

KW must feel pretty strongly. He's basically staking his career on this. This doesn't work well and he'll have ruined BJ's career and greatly damaged his own image and reputation.

He'd be starting his Junior year at BYU

I've learned in my life to trust those feelings.

                      All will be well.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts reading through the previous threads.

                          I agree.

Sitake had very little experience. But he had a world class defensive coordinator in Whit to oversee what was going on, mentor, and, if needed, step in if things were getting sideways.

There is no analagous mentor to BJ on the offensive side of the ball.

                          24 years old.

He did a good job getting Hays up to speed.

I find it a bit surprising how little trust Ute fans are showing in Whitt. He hasn't left much room for questioning so far and I think I would trust him for now.
