This is a really interesting article released today about the recruitment of the #1 overall pick at any position, WR Dorial Green-Beckham. He wound up picking "hometown" Mizzou over the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Arkansas. The article goes into great detail about the dirt and the behind the scenes behavior that comes hand in hand with blue chip recruiting. Some of the information contained in this piece will likely lead to some NCAA investigation, especially of Arkansas. whoops!

I got a good chuckle out of the unintentional smack thrown to Lane Kiffin..

John Beckham called schools that did not make his son’s cut and told them they had been eliminated. Some coaches weren’t ready to give up, like Southern California’s Lane Kiffin, who pleaded for Dorial to at least visit.

“He was kind of like the girlfriend that’s just like, ‘This is just a phase you’re going through, you really don’t want to break up with me,’” Tracy Beckham said.

I also liked his reason for not signing with ND (That guy is a PRICK):

John Beckham decided he didn’t want Dorial to play at one school after he saw a coach slam a headset at the end of the game instead of simply handing it to a waiting assistant.

The coach was Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, Tracy Beckham said.

I thought that was funny about Kiff, too, but I'm glad he was calling and being persistent (and staying within the rules).

I remember the ND game and I think there was discussion on the board about Kelly and his temper. It looked awful on tv, probably looked worse in person.

I'm not sure how Arkansas doesnt receive at least a phone call out of this, except for the fact that they are in the SEC.

I think the thing I enjoyed the most about the article was that the parents were heavily involved but managed to allow their son to make his own decisions throughout the entire process. It was refreshing to read, especially after what that nutty LSU mom did to her son at the Army AA game and afterwards.

Update on Jordan Diamond. It looks like tOSU has pulled their offer for this kid.. Mainly because we were able to secure some good OL already and this Scholie may be better suited for either Neal, or Diggs or save it for next year...

They weren't in the running anyway. UM, Wiscy, and Ark are the leaders, with most thinking it's between UM and Ark. I'll guess he goes to Arkansas, even though most folk think he'll pick UM.
