Really? I was under the impression that he wasn't horribly well touted out of HS (I don't follow recruiting, as I think it's a huge waste of time that puts unreasonable expectations on the shoulders of teenagers).Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Someone posted this the other day but I couldn't find it when we were having this discussion. Just saw it reposted. A look at the recent history of the top rated HS QB.
And a follow up post by Medute.2002 - Vince Young - National Champion, high draft pick
2003 - John David Booty - meh, career at USC, mostly a back up.
2004 - Rett Bohmar - early starter at OU, got kicked out due to car privileges.
2005 - Mark Sanchez - Great at SC, high draft pick.
2006 - Mitch Mustain - moved around, never matched the hype.
2007 - Jimmy Clausen - Started a couple of years at ND, average CFB player, made NFL roster.
2008 - Terrel Pryor - Had some great, some not so great moments as a player, got coach fired.
2009 - Matt Barkely - Started slow, great recently.
2010 - Jake Heaps - You know.
2011 - Jeff Driskel - ?
John David Booty - 1st Team PAC-10, led USC to two Rose Bowl victory, pre-season All-American in 2007 but missed several games due to broken finger. 9-0 as a starter against Top-25 teams. Drafted into the NFL.
Jimmy Clausen - Junior Season stats - 3700 yards passing, 69% completion, 161 rating, 28 TD, 4 INT (I think that is a bit higher than average don't you think). High draft pick.
Terrel Pryor - Big 10 Freshman of the year, Rose Bowl MVP, Big 10 MVP runner-up, and drafted into NFL. By the way, Tressel got himself fired.
More important than anything else, 6 out of 8 on that list were good enough to get draftedNot a bad track record, actually.I didn't know this but Bomar was also draftedSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
