Trust me, this isn't great news for Utah Fans either. Now, Norm Chow is going to have to figure out a way to generate some offensive scoring during the rivalry game. It's not as if the ball is just going to be squirting out and just sitting in the end zone waiting for someone to pick it up any longer.Originally posted by falafel View PostGood one. And so fresh, too.

He could have called Jordan Loveridges publicist who did the same thing. Sorry Ute fans that joke has ran its course when one of your future players does the exact same thing.Originally posted by Scorcho View Postclearly you have never tried booking an Iggy's Sports Bar for a private event during the Holidays?

Let's think this through.Originally posted by The Fourth Nephite View PostOh.......never mind then.
Good luck, Jake. Bad career decision, but best of luck to you.
If Jake truly has NFL aspirations, is it a bad decision? He'll likely sit his Jr. year, which only gives him one season to impress NFL scouts. That's easy to do at USC, Oregon, etc., etc., but at a non-BCS school, I think starting multiple years is absolutely necessary to improve NFL stock. Yes, there are notable exceptions, but I'm sure that is what Heaps is thinking.
If Jake has abandoned the NFL dream, is it a bad career decision? He probably wants to play the game he loves as much as possible before he has to hang up the spikes for good. If he is looking at riding pine again next year, it makes sense to transfer. Yes, he could RS next year and start for two seasons after RN graduates, but I think he needs a fresh start. Cougar fans, for better or worse, turned on him fairly quickly, and I think a new uni would do him some good.
I wonder if there's a higher profile school where he would have a fairly certain chance of starting. It's seems unlikely, but I don't have time to follow other school's depth charts.Last edited by Green Monstah; 12-05-2011, 12:37 PM.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Your entire argument fails on the basis of your faulty assumption. Jake doesn't have to sit out his Jr year. Not at BYU, and not anywhere else. He's got 2 years left to play.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostLet's think this through.

Looks like only Fangupo was a starter, active, lost his role and left.

It seems to me that if he felt he could beat Riley out next year, he wouldn't be transferring. Do you disagree? I edited to make clear that what I meant was that he'd be backing up Nelson next year.Originally posted by Jacob View PostYour entire argument fails on the basis of your faulty assumption. Sp you're saying he gave the BYU Coaches an ultimatum that he must start next year or he will transfer? And the coaches said we want you to RS and start the next year, and he said Sorry. I'm outta here.. And he now has to sit a year anyway just "Somewhere else"..Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostIt seems to me that if he felt he could beat Riley out next year, he wouldn't be transferring. What exactly are you trying to say???
If he really thinks he could beat Riley then his early season "Tryout" just proves that wrong. He made some boneheaded choices in those games and lost any level of cockiness and became fragile mentally.. So he lost the starting job..

I'm not saying he gave anyone an ultimatum. I'm saying he clearly doesn't think he will start next year, and therefore is transferring. He doesn't have to sit elsewhere, right? He can burn his RS. My bad; I thought he could burn his RS year and play immediately, but that would require some sort of coaching change, sanction, etc.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostSp you're saying he gave the BYU Coaches an ultimatum that he must start next year or he will transfer?
