  • The official 2011 Sun Bowl thread...

    Utah vs. Ga. Tech.

I will send an e-mail to the Ga. Tech AD to remind the football team to bring the correct cleats to this game.

Stub Hub has the ACC / Pac-12 sides reversed. Be careful buying tickets.

    I'll be on the 50 yard-line, 18th row.

2pm EST on New Year's Eve, televised by CBS.

I like it. I would've preferred the Holiday Bowl, because that would've been a slam-dunk trip, but I'll save some scratch and watch it at home instead.

Utah's linebackers will have to play really well. If our history against AFA is any indication, Utah will do fairly well against the run, but get gashed whenever the Jackets decide to throw the ball. GaTech, of course, has much better athletes for this system than the Falcons do.

Thankfully, it does appear that John White, Joe Kruger, and Sam Brenner will be 100% for this game.

How many tickets does each team have to sell? Hopefully other Utes fans travel well for this one. Wish I had money to go.

I believe that the Utes have to sell 8K. my sister lives in Tucson and I am thinking of flying down to spend the new year holiday with her and driving over for the game. i spent a lot of money chasing the utes around to some games this year, so i may as well keep it up. only problem is, with the exception of the arizona game, the utes lost every single game i attended. perhaps i am bad luck and shouldn't go. then again, i was at the 2005 emeral nut bowl and therefore am sure that i'm the reason the utes won that game and weddle shut down calvin johnson.

I'm starting to get a little excited about the game. It's been a busy, busy month, but I'm excited to see the Utes end the season on a high note and carry some momentum into the offseason.

My 10 y/o boy's OC for his football team was a player on the GT natl champ team in the early 90's. They run the same offense as the current GT team...over 100 plays. We spent the season watching Tech, and i had a ball watching the kid call all the plays that they'd run. Really looking forward to this game from that standpoint. There's a lot of talent on that team and Paul Johnson runs a nice program.

This is the first bowl game I will ever attend and I have 50 yard line tickets on the 18th row. I was an usher at the Sun Bowl when I was stationed at Ft. Bliss, and with the Sun Bowl being our first ever bowl, it feels a lot like going home. I can't wait for this game.

Driving to El Paso from Brownsville still must feel like driving half way across the country. I hope you are flying.

Yeah, I'm flying. El Paso is closer to Salt Lake City than it is to Brownsville.

                          Oh yeah baby!

Are you going to the game or watching on TV? I read that it was supposed to be chilly at the game. With the weather hitting an unseasonably high 40s in SLC, I'm not sure it will be much different at the bowl game.

That is crazy. I did not know that.

Driving, it is about 20 miles closer.
