I never said they went to get sloshed. Having a tailgate without drinking is
Ike having a Christmas party without food. Sure we all go to celebrate Christmas and hang out with friends, but we are also there to eat.

Even if you don't get sloshed, there is a certain buzz you get from just drinking socially, and that buzz would not exist with the alcohol. LSU gets at least twice as many people to its tailgate as actually attend the game and I highly doubt they would get near that level if they banned alcohol.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I think YO hit the nail on why BYU lacks in tailgating in general..

I think it is the Mormon culture. To think a guy could tailgate all day is not an option for a person in the Provo area.. To many other tasks and things to do (Honey-do-lists and I think a woman who loves football is in the minority in Provo which does not help the cause. Just being honest..)..
