A healthy Marcus Lattimore, would be the current exception. He seems capable of an Adrian Peterson (the good one) type impact.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostI wouldn't either. I think Polk is the only first round back in the PAC. First round backs are few and far between these days.

A healthy Marcus Lattimore is the best running back in college football IMO. The dude is a beast. He is probably worthy of being selected in the top 10. There are not many of those these days.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostA healthy Marcus Lattimore, would be the current exception. There is a running back that resides in Alabama that would love to disagree. Trent Richardson will go before Lattimore in anyones draft. In fact, I just looked at ESPN's big board, Richardson is no. 3 overall.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostA healthy Marcus Lattimore is the best running back in college football IMO. Lattimore isn't eligible this year. I would personally take him over Richardson. That might be just me though. I like Richardson, no doubt he is a first round back. I wouldn't waste a top 10 pick on him though.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostThere is a running back that resides in Alabama that would love to disagree. Is Lattimore on the board? He is an sophomore who suffered a season ending injury, who to my knowledge has not said he is coming out. I don't profess to be a Mel Kiper III, but to my untrained eye, ML is the best back I've seen in college since Darren McFadden (he was the year after AP, wasn't he?). Richardson, should be a faster version of his former stable mate, Ingram- another good, but not elite, NFL back.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostThere is a running back that resides in Alabama that would love to disagree. He can't. You have to be 3 years removed from High School to be eligible for the draft. He can't be drafted until April of 2013.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostIs Lattimore on the board? I would put Blanco at number four as well, but a lot of that is based on the eyeball test. The stats only tell you but so much. On the one hand I think we all know that Juan is getting a ton of carries to get his yards. On the other hand, at least for the second half of the season he has faced teams that know he is getting the ball on most plays, this with an offensive line that is okay but not great. I think it is hard to argue that those other guys would be any more than marginally more productive in Utah's current offense.
I think he is a very rare combination of a guy that has home run speed (though not elite can't be caught speed) and toughness to hit it up between the tackles 20+ times a game. I am frankly amazed that he has stayed healthy. Some guys just don't get injured easily.

That is the part I don't understand. How do you know this? You may be correct, I just haven't seen it discussed - likely since they wont be in the same draft. Lattimore was getting a lot of Heisman buzz (history has shown this has minimal correlation with NFL success, but still) and at least according to what I read and heard was considered to be a great prospect, due to his size (6'1" to Richardson's 5"11ish), strength (both seems to beasts) and speed (Lattimore 4.58, Richardson 4.52). I do think your point about TR's durability is significant, it will be interesting to see how ML bounces back next year.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostLattimore isnt eligible but my point was that even if he were, no one would take him before Richardson.
Richardson will test better at a combine, has shown more durability, and averages almost a full yard/carry more than lattimore.
