I wonder how good Meyer really is. It's obvious he can get teams/fans united and excited, but the guy has landed into cant miss situations. He's had Alex Smith and Tebow, only to leave just as the star QB graduated. He's kind of similar to Phil Jackson at least in my mind.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostIt is Meyer, it won't take you long to be back on top the B1G.
Don't get me wrong, he must be a good coach, but I wonder if his schtick is sustainable over a longer period of time."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Urban Meyer is a great coach, period. He made Alex Smith great. He recruited Tebow to Florida and made him great. He really is one of the most impressive college football coaches that I have ever seen. He will win at least 1 M NC at Ohio St.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI wonder how good Meyer really is. Alex Smith didn't graduate when Meyer left Utah. He opted to put his name in for the draft after his junior year because Meyer left.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI wonder how good Meyer really is. It's why I said that I'm not sure that him winning at a high level at OhSU is a slam dunk.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI wonder how good Meyer really is. I don't know how well the cupboards are stocked at OhSU.
I think his ability to consistently recruit great talent is unkown.

You're taking this too hard, dont start rooting for Michigan.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostNot surprised. been rumored since Tressel got canned. What I am surprised is the timing.. Does OSU and Urban know something we don't know. I was pretty sure there was still some instability about OSu and not in control etc. UNless the self imposed loss of schollies etc was enough and NCAA is not just going through the motions..
I hope he keeps Fickle and new Assisant D coach Vrabel..
Side Note: Can I.. A BYU fan and Buckeye fan truly embrace UM?? Yes.. Yes I can...
EDIT: Oh yeah. Herbie. That has to be a JOKE.. No way now how would he be a good coach.. Hell. He just moved out of C-Bus to Tenn.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

That has been my only concern.. But Alex Smith was not the player he was until UM came to Utah..Originally posted by Moliere View PostI wonder how good Meyer really is. The starting freshman QB Braxton Miller shold be ideal for him.. Our RB and WR are lacking some and out OL has been a thorn in my side since I can't remember.. With him I see our OL actually getting better (Can't be worse. Our OC and OL coaches blow chunks.. They keep getting star recruits at OL and they still suck after their coaching..).Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostIt's why I said that I'm not sure that him winning at a high level at OhSU is a slam dunk.

Defense is fine.. Very young and will be very good.. More DL would help and I see UM getting some prize DL out of Florida etc to help..
Overall this team is full in the cupboard situation..
