  • Blue river shootout or Tulane?

On the one hand, I'm much more interested in the football game and seeing the new cowboys stadium, but on the other, I've never been to New Orleans.

I can't do both because I can't take two weekends in a row off. Which would you do?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I lived in NOLA for five years and I'm a Tulane grad (stow it PLD and Babs). I'd be happy to create a superb dining and sight-seeing itinerary for you as thanks for the med question help and because I love the place, and because I love this forum and want to be a helpful member.

    Let me know,

      That is easy.

      Go the game.

New Orleans will always be there every single weekend.

Who knows when you will be able to see BYU play Oklahoma again? I think that after their record goes to 0-2 against the Y, they will stop scheduling us.

Which memory will you have 40 years hence? Another football game or a select trip to the Big Easy? I can give you a plan that you'll remember forever, and include a place where you can watch the game on TV in the Crescent City.

Football game. Give him the plan, he can use that later.

Tulane-a great city, a great time and should be a win.

Do you want to see us lose a game we should lose, or a game we should win?

Having been to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, I emphatically endorse New Orleans. Not only can you watch the BYU/OU game on TV, that stadium will be around for a while. The Tulane game will be a much better overall experience, not to mention a more positive outcome for BYU.

I guess it depends on whether you are a fan of football more than you are a fan of going on vacation.

I've been to New Orleans several times and have enjoyed myself.

Like I said, go to the game. The city is going to be there next week.

I feel like I am speaking from an honest place, as I am also forgoing the Tulane game that weekend to go to the Ohio State/SC game. Is Columbus more fun than New Orleans? No, not by a mile. But I can go to New Orleans anytime. I don't know if I will ever get to see SC play Ohio State in the Shoe ever again. And 40 years from now, i will definitely remember that game.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe it will be the first game in the new Cowboys Stadium. Unless you want to count pre-season football games, which, even then I'm not sure if there will be any played there.

I agree with DDD, go and watch BYU play OU at Texas Stadium. I think NOLA would be a fun trip, but I don't think it should even be a discussion.

It is indeed the first event of any kind at Cowboys Stadium. So on top of the fact that you have a rare chance to witness elite college football and a Heisman trophy winner in person, you also have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the christening of a major league sports venue.

So you could go to the Tulane game and implicitly endorse a fundamentally untenable community whose very existence is nothing more than a giant EFF YOU to the Almighty and nature itself, and while there hang with maybe two or three other online CUFers while watching BYU struggle against mid-level talent. Or you could come to what's guaranteed to be THE BIGGEST PARTY OF THE YEAR (mardi gras notwithstanding), with half the cougar-ute virtual community hanging out at the west end singing off-key karaoke before gate-crashing the Waters estate to kidnap Farrah and head over to Braums for brownie peanut butter hot fudge sundaes.

Crunch the numbers, mathman. This is a no-brainer.
